After much debate in my head, I've decided I may want to try to install a hood hinge.
It's a Mark II car, but I'm willing to modify a later model hinge to work with it.

Thanks Sten! I have looked at that set up several times now. It looks pretty slick. The downside to it (and all options frankly) is I have to bond the adapter plate to the hood. I guess not a big deal in the overall scheme of things, but it is not something I'm particularly looking forward to.
