Cobra Rental needed ASAP

Hi all, A friend of mine has been informed he will not make it to Christmas. I need to find a rental for a day, week or longer. He wants to travel here in Phx or prefer Highway one . Make base of driving in the Shell Beach area I believe. Of course I go also but he wants to drive. He just retired 3 months ago. Bucket list. He is going to Fiji for a week and then anytime after that. If anyone has an idea , please speak up. He is a good guy.
Gary

Not sure if any of our members here would be interested in renting their car but there are exotic car rental outfits around that might be an option.

The idea for your friend is a good one however there is an major insurance problem for him to drive or use one of our cars. My policy only allows me and my wife to drive it. I needed to do waivers signed by my daughters that they are not covered and are never to be an operator of the vehicle.

Here is a good place to start. I have been instructor/driver for the east coast, NJ, location for their fantasy days. Call them and see if you can get the car shipped to AZ or I guess someone picks it up there.

The insurance companies I checked into wouldn't even consider insuring my cobra.Unless I had proof of ownership of "other " H.P. to Wt.ratio cars in my history.

Insurance:

Just as a side note, I had purchased a used Sunbeam Tiger with a 260 v8 back in 1971. It was 5 years old, STATE FARM who was my carrier for my Oldsmobile said "NO WAY, that is a Race Car", Really ! I got coverage but it was expensive. The HP was rated at about 140~ 160 hp I think.

Insurance can be a really big problem especially if you are 27 and its a hot car. the Dodges and Plymouths of that era were a lot faster than my Tiger was.

I wish you the best in finding things to help your friend complete his bucket list!

Thanks for the replies. His insurance company said he is covered on anything he drives. A statement of value as a sort of agreement orwaiver for his insurance company knows what is going on before driving. There is a real 427 in LA must prohibitively expensive. Keep the ideas coming. It is much appreciated

If you are referring to the one I posted that is about right, I doubt you will find one for less than $300 a day.

Tell me a bit about your friend and who his insurance company is please.

Would he be interested in driving around Vegas for a day? Sort of tricky for me to get my car to Phoenix and then I have nothing to do for the whole day but I would love to help out if possible.

Thanks!

Bill

True, True and True

CobraDVM,

" You can rent pretty much anything in Vegas! "

That's absolutely true . . . but some of the "things" you can rent cost way more then $625 for 24 hours - LOL !

FWIW, the car in the ad isn't a Shelby - it's a Backdraft.
There are a few places that rent Cobras in Vegas, none are CSX cars [that I'm aware of], mostly Superformance or Backdraft.

I personally know Bilwil and his Gordon Levy Cobra is first rate. If you can connect with him and ride around [and possibly do some driving] in his car, that's the way to go.

Cobra, looks to be FFR.

Car is located just a few miles from Highway 1 in Los Angeles.

Have him, or yourself. text me at 702-521-3122. If you call I will most likely miss it as my phone rings far too often. If you text first I will be sure not to miss your call.

PS No rent required. I just want to help out. Many years ago when I was a young kid (okay okay MANY MANY MANY years ago LOL) I was rushing to my girlfriends house. I had no cash on me and I ran out of gas in my truck on a desolate road. Within 3 minutes of coasting to a stop a truck pulled up. He had a 5 gallon fuel jug. I explained that I had no money to pay him and he said "Just do something nice for someone when you can and that is all the payment I need". I took that to heart and every time I see someone pushing a car I stop and help push. Every time I hear someone is in need I do what I can. My fondest moments have come from these opportunities and I am glad I logged in to see your post. I have not been on this board in over a year so somehow the timing seems like it was meant to happen!

Thanks!

Bill

Change his trip to Hawaii instead of Fiji. They have Cobra rentals there. Kill two birds with one stone..
