Question 5.0 efi

AT what temp does EFI go into closed loop? I have replaced my 10 year old Ox sensors so I was wondering. I have a new TPS, MAF sensor and ECU coolant temp sensor. My thermostat is a 180 but factory is thermostat is 195. Is my car going into closed loop with the cooler thermostat?

What Jeff said (I hate it when he's always right - LOL!)

150 to 160 is the normal range for the EEC to switch control of your spark and fuel.

Running a 195 stat was for the smog requirements in most states and the unleaded fuel. If you are NOT running any smog related equipment, the 180 stat won't really hurt anything.

I don't have a cooling issue with my car so I stuck with the 195 but engine rarely gets above 188 anyway.

Cool

I'm not running any smog equipment. Thanks for the info, I'll feel better knowing that my gas mileage is as good as it gets.

Factory Ford 5.0 EFI thermostat is 192 degrees F

Why not just run what Ford installed from the factory?
