My Street Performers have had it...has anyone used these seats?

My street performers have had it. The padding in the back of the seats has completely disintegrated. I'm wanting more of a vintage look now, and was considering these Vintage Kirkey Seats. Has anyone used them?

Thanks!

I have the high back version and like them. Have sat in the seat you have linked and was pleasantly surprised at the comfort level. Dont have any real seat time though to give you a report.

Rob,

I have used the Kirkey Lowbacks. I don't have a lot of miles on them but I do find them comfortable. I started with the FFR big and tall roadster seats but found that they were too bulky so I switched to the Kirkeys and bolted them to the floor and all the way back to the rear bulkhead. I like the lowback look. I installed seat heaters, I put a self-adhesive insulation on the aluminum seat then used aluminum tape to hold the heat pads to the insulation. I have the 17" seats and I believe that is the widest size the will fit between the seat belt brackets that protrude through the floor. If you plan to mount the seats forward of those brackets you could use the 18".

Yes several cars have them. One problem is the covers only come in vinyl. So look for covers for these seats.

The shape of the seat is identical except for the headrest area so someone w/ a little skill w/ a sewing machine could fix that for you. Cloth is available and I really recommend it.

You better put some good "padding" on those seats. I have a buddy with a solid axle and when I ride with him it's like sitting on a box. No wonder he hates long trips.

It's all personal preference and for us it's the Cobra Classic seat (regular version). I've added a little extra side bolster and lumbar, but out of the box they're great.

I had those in my car initially and didn't like them. They weren't very comfortable to me and I didn't like climbing over the side bolster to get out of the car. I have the metal framed FFR seats now and like those better.

I did read a post here a while back where someone added padding in the lumbar area on the lowback kirkey seats and he said it helped with the comfort a lot.

Rob,
These would be a drop in replacement for your Street Performers.

I have them listed in the Classifieds but it wouldn't make sense to ship them as the shipping cost is more than the seats. Just as info though.
