Does anyone know of a direct DOT headlight replacement?

I have a MK1 and the wipac UK headlights. I spoke to the inspector and it seems they will be a problem without the DOT on the lense. I'm really not looking to upgrade right now to LED or anything major. Just a replacement for the stock Wipac's with a DOT listing. Thanks!!!!

Drop in some Wagner DOT lamps for the inspection. Then swap them back when you've passed!

Are they a direct retrofit? If so, why would I swap them back out instead of just leaving them? Is there a difference performancewise?

The MK1 headlights have a city light in them that is kinda cool like a dim daytime running light that is usually wired in with the parking lights. Any 7" round hi-low beam (3 prong) headlight will fit right in. Up to you if you want to switch back, if not you could probably sell the Wipacs in the classifieds. Good Luck with inspection!

The Euro style headlamps seem to have a better pattern than the typical DOT stuff. I'm running Hella's and love them!

Thanks 5.8. I don't have parking lights wired separately. The parking lights and headlights wired on the first Pull of my headlight switch and the high beams and parking lights wired on the second Pull. Will look for replacement 3 wire lamps.

Steno... do you have a part # for the hellas? I'm sure I would need some relays yes?

I picked them up from a Summit in the Jeep and truck section. The face of the assembly is pretty flat, but I want good light placement on the roadway most of all!

THAT'S the ticket! Nice pattern on low, and great long distance pattern on high beam! I'm running standard wattage lamps.

Bulb wattage is listed as 55/60. That would be 4.6A and 5A

Just swapped them out...nice unit. Doesn't have DOT as shown in the photo...but has SAE. Shouldn't be a problem... I hope!

DOT gets their standards from SAE. Call Summit... see what they say!
