Did my 1st big AutoX on Sun I had a blast. There is a lot of potential in my setup I ran fast and smooth. This was first time I had no spin outs pushing the 2nd run too hard. The car was in control and once again it is better than I am.

The car can go sooo much faster in slaloms and gates, now my problem I can't react as quick as suspension can react. Those cones are coming up fast. The gain in suspension is noticeable in AutoX. The way the car behaves on street is much better I am sure it will really shine on track day and time trials. Not to jinx myself but snap over steer seems to be gone the car steps out very smooth and predictable with both Kumho street tires and older A6's.

Also ran 1/4 mile on Fri night car felt solid over 100 in 4th gear no white knuckling, just smooth acceleration and very straight same with braking after trap. I drove it 100 miles to and from drag strip then another 200 miles round trip to Meadowlands for AutoX on highways smooth and relaxed.

I am running -2 deg camber, 6 deg caster and neutral toe.

Joe I 'think' you are running Hoosiers right? If so think about running 3 deg - camber.

First Pocono AutoX, there will be two more. The control arms have made the car very manageable at high speeds and my relative times have improved. I am very happy with the upgrade and I know I left about 2 seconds on the course. There was an off camber section on fast sweeper and all I saw was overshoot it and I am in the grass, and I still struggle with high speed slaloms.

Raw time vs established competitors - FTD 58.05 5/17 - Viper on Hoosier A7s:

My Raw 2016 75.5 on 5/17 62.7

BS 16 Focus RS 2016 - 2.2% slower 5/17 1.3% slower .9% increase

BS 05 S2000 2016 - 3.42% slower 5/17 1.95% slower 1.47% increase

ESP 12 Mustang GT - 4.42% slower 5/17 2.88% slower 1.36% increase

STU 03 350 Z Car - 4.48% slower 5/17 3.48% slower 1.0% increase

STR 05 S2000 - 6% slower 5/17 7% slower 1.0% decrease Raw 58.4

STP 16 Mustang GT 5.0 - 3.58% slower 5/15 4.34% slower .76% decrease Raw 59.9

Congrats Joe. Looks like you were having a blast. I still don't think I could do that.

You could my buddy Tim runs in the upper 70's, you go at whatever pace you want. When you are on course no one is in front of you or beside you, the next car is about 20 seconds behind you. As your ride along showed AutoX is great for learning how to control our cars.

Updated data from NEPA June 17 Pocono Event

Raw time vs established competitors - FTD 68.7 BMW 1M on Hoosiers:

My Raw 75.12 June 17, 2017 NEPA on full Pocono infield road course

BS 05 S2000 May 2017 1.95% slower June BEAT BY 2 sec

ESP 12 Mustang GT –May 2017 2.88% slower June RAN Same raw time

STU 03 350 Z Car -Same he still beat me by 5.7%

STR 05 S2000 - Still 6% slower

STP 16 Mustang GT 5.0 Still 2.7% slower

SSP 16 Corvette Z06 on Hoosiers he used to be a few seconds ahead ran same time

I have improved up to my abilities, my car is still a lot faster than me. My co driver, 40 yr old, timed a 73.8 raw. He could probably get the car to 72. Me I dont know if I have the ability to react successfully to the course obsticals at that speed.

The control arm upgrade was completely worth it, I have a car that can perform with top drivers. It now handles like I expected it to.

Ha, that's where you made a mistake-letting a younger guy drive your car. Ha, ha. Yes I think there is a limit for us old guys simply in reaction time, but who cares. I watch other's times out of curiosity, but if my times get shorter with each run, I did GOOD today. If my car seems to handle better today than last event because I made some changes, I did GOOD today. And there are days where neither of the above are true, but if I had fun, and I always do, then I did GOOD today. Keep it up Joe because there are a ton of people who are reluctant to even try, so we are way ahead of them.
JoeE thanked this.
