I had to travel to Mesquite, NV on a family issue. I left Thursday and returned today (Saturday). Map quest puts the distance at 502 miles and about 7-1/2 hours, each way.
On the way there I fell in with a group of travelers that were in more of a hurry that I usually am, but I kept up with them at speeds that I'm not willing to admit to in the open. On the return trip I kept my speed to about 6 over posted.
The trip there took me through Las Vegas which has several long uphill grades (where the group of travelers made such good time).
On the way there I got 21.4 MPG, on the way home 31.1, with the overall trip average of 25.4. It seems that the higher speeds and uphill grades make quite a difference in the figures. I did double check all my math before posting.
Regards, Rick.
