Ive got my flywheel installed, clutch and pressure plate, aligned and installed, and the quicktime bellhousing installed. My tranny stops with about a 1/2'' left to go in. I checked the pilot bearing when I installed it on the crank,no prob there. Checked the clutch plate, no prob. Just seems to stop short and wont go in any further. any thoughts? did a search, but couldnt find the answer I need. could the input shaft be to long?
I have run into this a couple of times. In my case I did not have the clutch aligned close enough to assemble it. I used a large pry bar to engage the clutch and it slid right in. Not sure if this is the same problem as yours. Try also installing a dowel into the bearing and the mark it where it exits the bell housing. Measure that and compare it to you input shaft.
Mike
I used the pry bar to move the clutch fork thereby actuating the clutch.
X2... that while shaking the trans gently and pushing it in. Its really a two person job. I used a very long socket extension interlocked into the clutch fork.

Your clutch is not quite aligned yet. Loosen up the pressure plate and try aligning it again. It is frustrating, but that is why it will not go in. Did the same thing to me a couple of weeks ago.

Like the others have said, your clutch is not exactly aligned.
If you have the roller bearing, check it to make sure this didn't happen.

You might check the inside diameter of the bearing and the outside diameter of the input shaft and make sure the bearing is the right size
People make mistakes all the time someone could have just grabbed the wrong part for you

are you referring to the throw out bearing diameter?

One way to make it a one-person job is to use a long carriage bolt or a piece of all-thread to pull the clutch into the disengaged position and hold it there while you fit the transmission.

thanks for the tips guys. still messing with it this morning, just wont go that last 1/2". how far does the fork need to go forward, and how much pressure should I be applying to it? How much force should I be pushing on the trans as im trying to push it in? The clutch alignment tool goes in and out perfectly, so I think its aligned ok. gonna try to get an extra set of hands tonight
you just about ned to go full throw on it. The trans should slide in easy without forcing. Just slight wiggling. If that does not do the trick, something else is wrong.
