IRS differential casket for back cover

I purchased a new ford Aluminum IRS differential from Forte thus week, the instructions that came from the factory says to use a casket sealer when installing the cover but it came with a paper casket, do I use both or just the paper casket that came with it?
Thanks everyone for the help

Opinion will differ on this subject but I like to use both. Start with the small bead on the diff housing then the gasket. Lastly use the RTV again on the gasket, another small bead and remember to let it to start to just skin over. Place the cover on and torque down the bolts in a chris crossed pattern.

There is 'specific' differential gear oil RTV at NAPA. When I went to ford and asked about a gasket they said because of the molded in valley in the cover you dont need a gasked, just a good RTV bead?!?

No right or wrong answer here but the chances of a seep or a leak is much less with RTV. Just be aware that there are many types of RTV and you need to use one that specifies that it is formulated to use with differential lubes. The plus side of a gasket is that it is MUCH easier to get the cover off should you need to do so in the future.

I used Permatex black magic silicone sealer. That was 9 years ago.
