If you could, (I have a MK4 if it matters) Could you tell me the distance from the body to the rear of your cutout using the outside length of the hole as the reference?
I guess its my fault for not VERIFYING the measurements are the same for both sides and correct (measure thrice and cut once). BUT from FFR, My drivers side outline was outlined from about the 3 to the 5" mark and the passenger side is almost 3/4 of an inch forward... again....!@#$%^&
I still need to trim the usual 2" offthe bottom of the side frames , but still pointless if the body holes arent lined up correctly and the passenger side is 3/4" forward of the drivers side.
Thanks again fellas.
Jeff

AGAIN- you pulled it out!!! It looks like yours are cut from 3 1/4" to 5". I'll make the adjustment to the passenger body tomorrow since my drivers side matches yours, then trim the windshield frames and see how things line up !! Thanks again my friend- well thats at least two cold ones I owe you.

I can get the windshield frames through the body slots and along side of the mounting points, my problem is the right slot is 1/4" forward or the drivers side-
I'm trying to figure out if the passenger side is too far forward (or correct), or is the driver side too far rearward (or correct)

Dismantle the windshield posts from the frame and set each one in and see how they sit and adjust the holes forward or back so that the posts are centered so that you can bolt them to the chassis. Obviously in the end they should be the same distance from the dash edge.

Try and prevent any pressure on the posts, from the body pressing against them, when the WS is installed.
Enlarging the post holes longer and wider, is standard procedure. The post bezel covers it anyway..

There's your answer!

on my mk3.1 the layout holes were off, and of course everytime you pull the body there will be a difference, main thing is to keep clearance around the post.
i actually didn't like the escutheons that F5R supplied and made my own, covers the hole and i actually had room on the passengers sie to slide a wrench from the top of body along the WS post and bolt it up.
here is a thread on it: those chincy windscreen escutheons
this area too at the posts you will find that the drivers side you have to conform your body to get to the bolts, mine was made much easier because i moved my fuse panel to the passengers side at the glove box area.
water likes to come in around this area too, so when your done with the paint and are ready to install the finish pieces seal this area up.
did i mention water likes to come in everywhere.

FWIW, I had to open my holes up to get the windshield to fit without touching the body. Also, I had to put a couple of washers between the frame and the windshield mounting arms. I noticed as I tightened the windshield it would flex and create a gap on the body. The washers kept the winshield from flexing. I guess you could have bent the arms, but I was trying my best NOT to crack the windshield!

did the washer shim too on drivers side, a bit of a trick but here something that will help on the install if you need to shim, take some spray contact spray it on the washer slide it over into the hole area to get some of the glue on the frame then remove it spray a bit more on the washer let sit to dry then stick the washers onto the frame, less fumbling of the fingers when you go put the bolts thru.

The support posts have about an 8 degree bend as they exit the body. It is possible that the posts were slightly damaged (the bed was changed) during manufacture or shipping.
The important thing is to insure that when the posts are firmly attached to the chassis, the wiindshield frame fits to them without any flexing of the posts. If there is a need to flex the posts to get them to fit, there will be un-necessary stress in the mounting screws that go into the brass strips. It is understood that the posts need to be clear of the body as they pass through.
HTH Regards, Rick.

I centered the body over my front wheels, and wound up moving the factory windshield cut-outs. I had to glass in the factory cut holes from underneath to fill the 1/2" gap this created.
