S10 mid-shift ... trim bottom of rear trans section?

Couple questions for those who've gone before with a T5 trans converted to S10 mid-shift:

We're getting ready to install my engine and t5 trans (converted to mid-shift using a S10 rear section etc) into my Mk4, and just noticed a couple things:

1. Clearly the trans mount supplied by FFR with the complete kit won't work. My sense is that I'll need an S10 trans mount - either rubber or urathane. Correct?

2. The "fin" on the bottom of the S10 rear trans housing (1st picture below ... with the bolt hole thru it) looks like it'll need to be carefully trimmed off (using my trusty Sawz-all) to avoid interference with the FFR supplied "a-frame" that the trans mount attaches to. Is that also correct?

3. Looks (by "eye-ball" measurement) that I'll need some spacers between the S10 trans mount and the "a-frame". Approx 1/2 inch or so. Does that make sense

Obviously I need to be careful trimming the case so's to not trim too much.

Thanks in advance for any help, counsel and advice.

Lynn

PS - From reviewing my notes, it looks like the S10 trans that was parted out to get the rear section etc was from a 1993 S10 with the V6 engine

1. Correct. I do not remember what I used, but I think Gordon Levy or Mike Forte have the right one. Call and ask.

2. No. Check photos. Nothing needs trimming, but can be cut if it stick too far down, a good idea.

3. That will depend on your setup. Engine mounts, angle to dif etc.

Depends, are you planning on using an EEC-V EFI fuel system?

Perfect! The Forum comes thru again!

Did the cut as indicated - but didn't get a "post cut" picture - finally picked up an S10 trans mount (a long story on the "finally" ... thank goodness my son was here this weekend to help with the engine install and to get my head on straight re: the mount orientation) and got the engine installed.

Now I'm stressing over finalizing the engine placement, and some engine alignment issues that I'll post up in a separate thread ... as soon as I get back from taking the wife to her dr's appointment.

Thanks again!

Lynn
