New roll bar

Finally got around to having the down leg mounts for my roll bar welded in, also a cross bar for the seat belts.

Nice looking beads from the ones I can see.

Sure a heavy tube, are you building this one to race?

How tall is that measured from the trunk floor?

Mark, yes everything was moved. The bar is the same height, and of the same material as the FFr bars. I just really like the look of single fullwidth bar, no real intent of racing. I will have a cubby behind the seats now, there are no seatbelt mounts, or rollbar stubs in the way.

Very nice. I was talking with a fellow builder the other day about "if" I was to build another one, I would want to modify the area behind the seats so that I could have a full cubby area - basically exactly what you have built.

Rich, It's about time. You should have told me you wanted the harness bar. I could have thrown it in the box with the bar. It looks great! Have you decided what finish you are going with on the bar?

The Bar is 24" from the end of the bar to the top. FFR routinely welded a spot on the mount about an inch up from the trunk floor as a stop. This sets the overall height of the bar at about 25" off the trunk floor. The great thing about the roll bar kit is that you can cut it down to the length you like and have the rear bar stubs both top and bottom welded in. All the parts are pre-cut and all of the fish-mouths are done. All that's left is to fit and have it welded. Even with a MKIV the bar can be fit with bushing sleeves to allow for the 2" bar

The reason I asked how tall is because by my estimations the bar looks to be 31" tall... or the angle the photo was taken makes it look quite tall?

Frank, I know, its been a slow build. It wasnt till later I decided to move the seat belts, and add the storage area. At this point I'm planing Black Chrome powder coat.

Really like the single bar -- if doing it again I would use instead of dual hoops. However did use Black Chrome color powder coat -- really like the result. Also did same on quick jacks and their mounting tubes to pull things together. Next go around, I will do same to license plate frame and the side vent grills and am thinking about the air cleaner cover and VC's......

Get it finished!

Regards,
Bill

CC, Look at it this way, the bottom of the harness bar kisses the top of the body.

Someone did a trick one with a curved lower bar that hugged the body. I think there is a picture of it at a big speedway in the Southeast??? Not sure how that would effect performance in a rollover though...
