Wink Alignment

Eddie,

Any time you disconnect front end parts and bolt on new stuff, you need to have an alignment done . . . in your case, especially with the SAI mod, it completely relocates the upper control arm.

You didn't think this was going to be easy did you???
The expense of the SN95 conversion for me is what has held me back so far . . . I'd have to replace everything; UCA adjuster sleeves, spindles, brake rotors, front hubs, calipers, the list goes on forever. I may break down some day and do it but for now, the Fox stuff works really well on my MKII.

hi Pete

yes, i know i'd have to get re-alignment, but what i meant is that i would not need alignment after swapping brakes only.

who knows, maybe i can find some cheap-o '95 rotors and calipers at a junkyard. i have time until i start, but at least now i know what it will cost.

cheers,

Talking

The SAI mod was the best $$ I ever spent to improve the handling of my Coupe. It was twitchy at 50 mph and down right scary at 100. This mod moves the centerline between the upper and lower ball joint towards the center of the tire by placing the upper ball joint down and out from its original location. The original FFR mounts were intended for the use of a 15" tire with the SN 95 spindle, but some guys on this forum have used the SAI with 15" wheels. Spring rates also come into play when you are talking about handling as well as tires. I'll share this for what it's worth. I have the straight leg Sn 95 spindles 13" brakes from a Mustang Cobra (e-bay items) rears are an upgrade I got from North race cars.Manual brakes ( Jeep MC), Mustang pedal box with Whitby adjustible push rod, Hawk HP+ pads .My bumpsteer kit mounts on top of the steering arm. I had them drilled and tapped for the bumpsteer kit that came with my Coupe as per instructions in the build manual. I have the old gold pole position UCA and they are OK.1.5 degrees camber 4 degrees caster. I added a front and rear sway bar from VPM and it's a bit pricy but both are adjusable. I'm running Koni shocks that I got from a forum vendor 500 front 700 rear and they are much better then the ones I got with my kit back in 03.
You are on the right track but I will recommend that the SAI mod should be your first purchase.
FYI go to google and enter the following site:ffcars.com SAI mod or anything else you want info about like bumpsteer measurement, ackerman , pinion angle etc. Lots of info here. I saw a diagram that explains SAI a lot better then just reading a discription.
