Good enuf to go-kart?

Had my first start-up last week and checking off items to prepare for first go-kart soon.

I'm running a '93 power steering rack and pump. The rack is mounted, but I haven't installed the pump yet.
Question: for initial go-kart, can I run the stock PS lines? Any issues? too long? (I want to upgrade to SS and install a Heidts valve later (while the body is being painted).
Also, will I need a cooler later? or is that just an auto-x need?

Mark, good enough for now, an oil cooler can be nothing more complicated than a loop of tubing in the return line. It was good enough for millions of factory Mustangs!

Great! Thanks Rich.
Now I hope I held on to those old lines!

I still have the stock hoses, the high pressure one is "looped". it looks pretty gaudy in the photo, but in real life it's not so bad.

I used stock 91 everything on my first build. I just trimmed the return hose and used the supply hose as is and it worked great.

Just remember to install the hoses and fluid BEFORE you run the engine. Don't ask how I know this.

Stock lines will work fine. And save you money on the Heidts valve. Do a search on cutting the pressure spring in the pump. This is a very popular mod done by many over the years but I can't remember the recommended dimension. If you cut a little too much you can shim it back w/ small washers so give it a shot.

I have a heidts valve laying around if you want to buy it. Also, have one 8" braided line 90 and straight ends. I must have used the other lines when I switched to a KRC race pump
