First licensed day on the road!

One heck of a journey, but I finally got plates. Still a long way from being done, but it drives very well and I absolutely love it.

Still need to properly set front ride height, install louvers, undercoat splash panels, radiator aluminum, finish a bit of carpet, re-cover glovebox door etc. etc. etc.

Can't stop grinning!

Andrew

I've been waiting for this post. Nice job Andrew, it's been a long time coming, but I now have another driving buddy. It looks much nicer in person though.

Congrats, Jim.

great feeling getting legal

i got legal and didn't work on the car for 3 months, then another 3 months of driving, now weather is coming time to get back to work, have fun i know i have.

and the louvers are nice not being in to get to side pipe bolts, i just installed mine i used a 1.5" x 8" x1/8" flat stock aluminum and adhered it to the back with some clamps, used a black
3M seam sealer. then got some heavy duty velcro and installed them on the flat stock, now easy to get to side pipe bolts for quick removal.

Congrats, looks great. I just wonder on a scale of 1-10 how much does that front license plate bug you? I am still going illegal on mine with no front plate. I can't stomach putting one up there. I think its going to have to cost me a ticket first before I go there.

Have a great time with the car though, front plate or not...its a ton of fun!

To answer the question...10! Our plates are also so flimsy that I had to put bulb seal on the edge to keep it from damaging the paint when it flexes - and that will be at anything over walking speed. It may not last, but I figured I'd start with one.

The mirrors are sold by Breeze Automotive...they are absolutely a great addition to the car. They actually use the wind wing mounts.

x2 i just installed these mirrors the other night. The price is scary at first, but once you have them in hand, you understand why.

Andrew
in MO if you get a 1965 plate registered to your car, its on it for life. and in 1965 they only had a rear plate. its restricted to mileage 1000 personal and anything else has to be logged like events and car shows. if i go to the grocery store thats an eventpeople look at my car and then it becomes a show.

That's a Hella part that comes from New Zealand...I manage to find one in North America using a google search. Don't know if they have any more, it was wicked expensive and the unit is a cast aluminum piece! Not something you typically see any more...

Alright Andrew!

Isn't it a great feeling to get the inspection, ICBC red tape behind you, and actually go for a drive finally!

Color combo is great. Are the stripes actually tinted slightly blue?

Now Jim has someone to race

The stripes are actually Ford Light Ice Blue...but the light has to be right to see that and most people think it's silver next to the primary color. The painter that did both Jim's and my car really has an eye for complimentary colors...he gave me some great advice and I really like the results. We're doing cut/buff tomorrow (Saturday).

Jim will have to wait for a race partner until I get a bit more comfortable driving it! The TKO is taking some time for me to get used to shifting as it's fairly heavy. In the meantime he and Mark (Mobst) can leave me in the dust... Once my engine breaks in, perhaps I will be able to keep up. However, I also built a heavy roadster (2521 pounds with 3/4 tank of fuel and no driver), so I don't expect to be fast in comparison to the others.

Thanks all for the nice comments! Can't wait for this business trip to end so I can get back in the saddle...on the way home now.

Andrew

Thanks for the info! I saw one of these on a car on here 3-4 years ago and I could never find any source for it. That is a bit steep but cheaper than a neck brace. At least that's how I'll rationalize it to the CFO

Congratulations Andrew!

It looks great and I KNOW it must be amazing to drive (legally) !

I appreciate all the little things like the clear lenses on the front indicators (I have changed mine as well), high back seats make you FEEL safer at least and the side view mirrors are the best you can get. I've been through several iterations myself before settling on Terry Riebel's Dreamcar Garage mirrors that Breeze now offers as well. I love them. I got my first no front plate warning at the beginning of this summer and so finally broke down and installed one of Mike Everson's front plate brackets. I don't love it but I like tickets less...

I know how much thought you've put into it so enjoy the miles you can put on before the snow flies!

Sean
