Hi
I have a MK3.1 roadster with FFR std 3 5/8 sleeves for the UCA.
Front alignment is set to minus 1 degree camber and 3 degree positive caster.
Not happy with the steering (manual rack), it's too sensitive in speeds above 60 Mph. Also the return to straight forwards position after turn is bad. Therefore I would like to increase caster to 4,5-5 degree. Without removing the heim joints I would like to know how much threads there are on the heim joints. Just want to make sure there is enough overlap into the sleeves.
Hope anuone understands my question.
Best regards Hakan

Just happen to be working on those exact parts on my Mk4 build right now. They're apart and on my workbench... The links have 1-5/8 inch total threads, and 1-5/16 inch of threads exposed with the nut all the way to the top.
My build will have power steering, so in the process of changing the front sleeves to 5 inch ones from Afco. This thread has a lot of information:

Hakan: Once you start to get toward 5-6 degrees postitive caster, the front link is dangerously close to not providing enough threads to handle the suspension loads. I went to a 5 inch tube to get enough threads. Pit Stop USA has them. Also I think Speedway motors.
