Thumbs up IRS Wilwood brake kit

Hi,
I just finished a prototype IRS Wilwood kit. This is a 12.19" x .81" vented rotor with the integral E-brake inside the rotor. The price is $1595.00 including 2 new IRS knuckles, 2 IRS hubs, new Wilwood brake kit machined to fit the machined IRS Knuckles. I need 3-4 weeks to fill orders.
Any questions or thoughts?

Mike, do you have a picture of the machined knuckle? I have the same setup from Wilwood minus the PB in the rotor hat and used external spot calipers for the PB. They work good but would really like to get the PB in the rotor hat. How is the PB assy tied into the rotor? May be interested in getting parts to get my PB in rotor hat but need to know more about the machining you do on knuckle and how the PB cable hooks up.

If I understand correctly the news here is that this is a setup that avoid having a spot caliper just for the ebrake. It would be great to see more pictures of the machined parts!

Dually,
Are you asking Mike to divulge how he made his kit so you can make yours work like his? Or did I read it wrong?

Hi,
I have to machine the knuckle some, machine the backing plate, make a caliper mount and machine the rotor. I could machine your used spindles and make your knuckles & hubs work for a price concession.
I have no plans to send detailed pictures. I've been working on this since this spring when I was told this would be a great improvement over the current Wilwood kits available.... and spent tons of time and tied up lots of money. I hope someone makes it worth it. To date I have just prototyped this and will need to custom machine the parts & spacers. I need purchases to make this happen to more than another dream.
Thanks,
Mike

understood on the pictures and investment Mike. Just curious as to how much of the hub was being removed. If you get it done I would consider making the move to internal PB vs spot caliper.

My only thought is where were you a year ago...

It looks like an excellent approach, Mike, and if I didn't already have a similar system with the spot caliper, I would be all over it. It should do well.

I'm pretty sure I'll be ordering one, and I'll give Mike a call tomorrow or Thursday. Hopefully other people will sign up to make it worth Mike's time to have spent so much time researching and designing this from the ground up.

Hub

Hi Dually,
Who said anything being removed from the hub? It's a stock hub...

Hi,
Any more interest? So far I have 1 interested and need at least 6 sales to make these. To complete this into production I will need to machine spacers, caliper brackets, backing plate brackets & hardware not to mention ordering IRS hubs & knuckles and Wilwood parts too.

Mike - so am I correct in thinking these will fit with 15" pindrive IRS? I am not much help for you now as I am probably 1 yr out from placing an order, but definitely the way I would like to go.

Hi,
I received 6 set of Wilwood brakes yesterday. I'll be machining brackets and parts to assemble these kits.
I have 2 people so far. Anyone else interested?

Thread hijack alert!

Can someone explain to a rank newbie (in the research stage) the problem this solves? From what I have read, the Wilwood Big Brake system offered doesn't fit on the IRS? That is one of the considerations I had for whether I should do IRS actually (or maybe I've put the cart before the horse?). Anyway, a little edu-mu-cation would be greatly appreciated!

Hi GTA Cobra,
What I have is a 12.19" Wilwood brake kit that features the internal E-brake (inside rotor) kit that mounts to slightly modified stock IRS spindles & stock hubs.
The picture on the first post includes a picture.

So for the 15" guys.........

This same setup is possibly available. What we need:

5 customers to make the redesign happen.

$1695.00 for these kits - These should fit the Factory 5 15" wheels as well

I assume you are talking the regular 15" wheels, but what about the 15" pin drive set up? Inquiring minds want to know!

Hi Rich,
The pindrive wheel could fit. I would need measurements of the stepped diameters inside the wheel to confirm fitment. Give me a call and we can go over where to measure from.
