Couple of notes from my experiences:

- RainX is useless when driving early morning along the coast in a fine mist. Don't have wipers and I couldn't see squat.

- Smartphone with doppler app can be your best friend. Saved me on a recent road trip seeing a cell over our route. Waited an hour for it to pass and all dry.

- Neither my tonneau cover or cheap Walmart car cover stood a chance of staying on the car in high winds preceding a storm front. Luckily my friend had a pair of 4 ft stretch cords that we stretched over the cover from wheel to wheel clipping on the spinners and that worked.

Jeep wranglers have a similar problem of getting water retained inside the vehicle and for years provided drain wholes with a nice removable rubber drain plug. You guys might want to add the drain plugs to your cars. Makes for quick clean up.

Nothing works better than a hardtop in a downpour. Obviously the bigger the umbrella the better. We keep a golf umbrella behind each seat when we cruise, for shade as well as rain (works better for shade than rain). It is always an adventure in the roadster so enjoy the event and don't sweat the damp moments.

i would like a ragtop or a hardtop but i don't think i will be able to fit ( i am too tall), like the roll-bars i won't pass the broomstick test my head is way to far above it.
now if the ragtop came with a drivers-side zipper across the top for me to slide in that might work.

i did forget my umbrella last weekend that would of helped my wife
i didn't have any place to pull over to put my rain suit on the road was at the time hard to see where to pull over.
but getting wet was ok if it was colder it really would of sucked

Been in the rain out on the road often and those microfiber towels work great. Soak up the wet, wring them out and soak up some more. I always carry a pair of dry socks in the trunk when traveling ... nothing nicer than dry feet even when the rest is wet and drying off! Also pays off big time to have tires that grip in the rain IF your in a location where rain has been known to appear - that is not southern Calif!

My most fun rain time was at a SAAC meet and the open track event. It was a few years ago at Charlotte Speedway - now Lowes Speedway. The rain was pouring down during the track event. No one was on the track, as I was registered, inspection was done, and sticker on windscreen waiting to be in one of the time slots of the open track, i asked was the track still open ... sure was, so no top, I climbed in my car and went out and had a blast! Worse part - white knuckles - was the transition between the infield part of the course and the banked oval! Standing water... I remember it being more like a standing ocean! You lined up your car straight as soon as you came out of the infield corners, hit the ocean, .. sudden deceleration... hold the steering wheel straight... as steady as you could ... you're hydro planning now at 70ish mph ....water pouring in around the steering shaft.... as your direction was set as soon as you hit the water all you could do was wait till your tires finally gripped the banked oval, then it was turn and go! Every lap was like that and I kept lapping the course till my full tank was down to a quarter tank. I was sideways a number of times ... no one else ventured out on the track so I had no one to worry about. When I came in not only was every inch of me soaked, arms ached, and the car was a mini tub! But I loved every minute of it!

I rarely drive my car to work because the lot is frequented by elderly patients of the doctors in our complex. No need to temp fate. However one Friday last spring there was a beautiful afternoon. Not a cloud in the sky. Checked the weather radar before I left the house and nothing. No sooner did I get the car parked in a safe spot did my son in law call and tell me the sun was out but it was pouring at his house which is 20 minutes north west of my office. I looked out the window and could see a dark cloud or two to the west but the sun was still shining brightly. Then out of nowhere a cloud burst, still sunny. It poured for a good 5 minutes and then quit. I ran out while it was raining and covered the dash with a beach towel I keep in the trunk and put my jacket on the seat but other than that I was helpless. I got the water cleaned up, didn't even rain at my house which is less than a mile away. Since then I invested in a snap on tonneau cover. While it's not perfect it does keep things pretty dry. I also keep a sheet of plastic and a couple towels in the trunk just in case.

X2 on the door channel thing. Perfect channel for water to go on your left leg

I keep 2 - 55 gal plactic garbage bags in the trunk to go over the leather seats. The rug will dry out but the TAN seats will satin,

My wife and I went to the rockies for a couple of days. Forecast was supposed to be sunny....what do they know. We were trapped driving for a total of 3 hrs over the 2 days. At the end of it, I sat back and realized that the car was water tight...electrically. So I guess we were lucky, we could have been stuck in the rain with no top, no wipers, no nothing waiting for a flat bed.
