My kit comes in Oct. going with a Coyote engine and the car is going to be used for street and highway fun. What do you Coyote guys think is a good transmission?? I'm planning on a 3.55 ratio IRS rear.
Thanks

Yes I had one vender say to use the TKO 600 (TCET5008) with the 2.87 first gear and the .64:1 5th gear and another vender say to use the M-7003-R58H Cobra R transmission which has the 2.92 first gear and a .68:1 5th gear, just need some advice..
Thanks.
Hi Danwmn,
The Ford Racing catalog has INCORRECT gear ratios listed. The tcet5008 has a 2.87 1st and a .64 5th. The TCET4617 has the same 1st but has a .82 5th.
If you're looking for a Tremec transmission, I (Forte's Parts Connection) is one of 8 Elite Dealers in the USA and there is only a total of 11 Elite dealers worldwide. Ford racing is an OEM supplier so they have their own part numbers, but they are identical to the Tremec part number equivalant. NOTE: I will machine the tailshaft housing for free, just for the asking...

I went with the TKO 600, and would like to move the shifter to the middle but am wondering whether the shift handle will hit the diagonal 3/4" frame member of the transmission tunnel. Would like to know if anybody has done this and whether there were any problems.
I have a TKO and got the mid shift from Forte's.
Yes, the 3/4" cross piece does interfere with the mid shift.
Many say you can remove it. I figured if the factory built it that way, there must be a reason. I notched the tube and made it go straight across so the shifter would clear.
I plan to go with the tr3650. There are two versions available. The 01-04 has a cable clutch and typical splined output. The 05+ mustang unit has a hydraulic clutch. Both are strong enough to handle the torque capacity and provide factory smooth shifting and quiet operation, which can't be said of some other aftermarket options. These transmissions are available for a very cost effective price and can be rebuilt reasonably too. Look for a recent thread in the modular section about installing the 05+ mustang trans by Clemson.
Another option is the t45, but it is slightly weaker and has some issues with shift forks if you plan to power shift.
Hi Guys,
The T-56 Magnum will work on IRS cars. Really nice tranny!!!

What modifications have to be made to use the T-56 with the IRS?
bellhousing / crossmember / mid shifter
Can the T-56 work on the levy 5 link? If so, what modifications have to be made?
The driveshaft may be to short [supposedly the MKIV moved the motor forward 1/2"] but it may be too short & will bind when the rear end moves under suspension

Interestingly enough, I have the Coyote and the midshift TKO600 (both purchased from Mike Forte). The shifter does NOT interfere with the frame on my MKIV. The throw is very short between gears. (i am using a straight 6" shift arm if that makes a difference)
