Well, I'm a founding member of this forum. Been perusing these pages for over 10 years (damn...time goes by fast).
During that time, I've changed careers, bought, started, and sold businesses, went to the Mott Build School, went to three FFR Open Houses, toured the factory on two additional occasions, gone to the London Cobra Show five times (including when it was called Double Venom Spring Fling), joined the military, and am currently mobilized state-side for the U.S. Army and will be serving in this capacity for the next three years.
Throughout, I have come very close at least three different times to purchasing an FFR. Of course, going through the mental exercises of "base kit", "complete kit", "already built", then...color choice 1, color choice 2, color choice...75.
NOW...Finally the stars aligned and I pulled the trigger. Bought a partially completed kit from BIL1024 (a fellow forum member...and a really nice guy, just like every other member I've had the pleasure of meeting/talking to).
I have to say...I feel like a kid on Christmas eve waiting for Santa.
I also have to say...I am now going through the transition of dreaming about, and planning, and considering options, and debating with myself, and changing my mind about an imaginary future project...to...doing all these same things for the REAL project now ahead of me. I thought this would be easy, but it is much, much, much more difficult. When it was simply a future possibility, it's easy to change your mind and there's no consequences. Now?...every decision has to count because it's FOR REAL!
I have to thank everyone on this forum for making it the best forum on the web. Even though I haven't had a car, all the members have always been extremely supportive, and willing to offer guidance and knowledge and advice and opinions, knowing that it was for a maybe-some-day-in-the-future project.
I say that to butter you all up, because I am now going to begin asking the same questions that have been asked 1,000 times before and so gracefully answered, and re-answered.
Let the fun begin.
FYI...New Goal: Have car complete and attend London Cobra Show in 2013 in my own FFR!!!
