The drivers side frame -all 4 screws in like butter.
For the life of me I cant get the top screw to catch in the windshield frame brass insert?? the lower 3 mount like it was meant to be. the side frame does seem to have a little twist in it at the curve?!?
Ive tried to angle it forward/backward/off the the left / right tring to get to seat even a little.... with only sweat getting more mad happening
the screw threads into the brass insert without the side frame on but will NOT with it
I called FFR and I was told the wrap it in a towel and tweek it in a vice and see if that works... what if I tweek it just enough the chrome chips off, of what if I make it WORSE?? then what??
please help??
jeff

I had exact same issue. I ordered the whitby stainless inserts and bent the brass post a little to follow the curve of the windshield a little better and it's fine. The whitby inserts aren't necessary but they're so much stronger that you can torque the screws a bit more to help seat the post to the frame. -Michael

As mentioned its pretty common for the bend to need adjusting, you can also slide the brass strip up or down some in order to get the curve to fit as best it can. I've not heard of anyone chipping the chrome in the process.
That said, the stainless insert from Whitby is a great option insread of the brass. If you stay with the brass, its a good idea to tighten only one screw and then check to make sure that there is no wiggle on the bar, sometimes they will bottom out on the gasket before they actually pull the bar tight, in which case you will want to grind a small amount off the end of the screw.

I had the same problem when I was working on the windshield install. I took the brass strip out of the channel and cut the strip with a hacksaw between the last two screw holes so that the strips could be installed independently. I made sure that they were installed in the same relative positions though. Once you do that you can move the strip with one hole in it a small amount but I found that it was just enough to line the two holes up. I started the top one first but left it loose then worked my way down the frame. This worked for me because two of the holes were offset just a bit, brass strip to side frame. I did bend the frame quite a bit also to make it fit properly where it curves over the top of the windshield. Hope this helps and good luck.

I think you can bend/form that to be pretty close. I went through the same thing. I paid my painter to install the windshield and he stripped out the top screw hole and then blamed it on Factory Five by saying they shorted him 2 screws. The lesson learned is to bend it to fit correctly and don't try to draw the bar down with the screws. The brass will strip every time.

You can bend the frame support to fit the windshield frame like a glove. The trick is to start fitting at the top and work your way down. If you don't do it that way chances are the frame support will look too long because it will contact the cutout part at the top of the windshield frame. You may need to re-locate the brass strip in the frame to get the screw holes to line up properly but the strip can be moved with light taps with a small hammer and a pin punch. You may still need to cut the strip to get one of the holes to line up correctly but that will take you ten minutes tops. Good luck.

Should be able to get that in a bit closer. It looks to me that if you take a little bend out and then slide the brass strip down in the channel you will be on the money.
