M-6007-x302

Hey guys....question for those in the know on ford stock efi.

I am contemplating 306 Cubic Inches | Sean Hyland Motorsports as a winter project and was wondering:

Do I have to make any changes to the stock '89 fuel system to get a reliable daily driver with a little extra kick?

I'm most concerned about the injector size,MAF size, and computer.

Are they all compatible with that engine w/no mods/power adders?

I have a chance to pick up a set of 24lb ford racing injectors and a 75mm calibrated mass air for $300.

Am I going to need 'em on this motor or will all the current stuff work ok? Is that a fair price...Thanks for any input...

Uncle Johnny reported a small gain when switching from 19 to 24 lb injectors . This was chassis dyno on his stock class race car. When I switched to 24lb in my 93 lightning I felt no difference. Find the hp vs injector size table or calculator .I think the max on the 19lb injectors is 300 or 319 horsepower.. bob

What intake and throttlebody are you going with? I'm using 75mm and ported explorer intake and I'm quite happy with the performance. I think the 24lb injectors are a good choice. If you want to bump the power up some more later on it's one less thing to do.

The Ford Motorsport catalog has a great section on injector size and fuel pump selection. Hopefully this link will take you to the correct page if not go to page 203. 2012 Ford Racing Performance Parts Catalog Ford Racing

Right now, everything is stock from an '89 mustang...wanted to keep it as stock as possible with a little extra kick...gonna try to keep the intake, dizzy, maybe even the new fuel pump I just installed.

Will I be able to do that, and just swap out 24lb injectors and a calibrated 75mm mass airflow sensor?

Just did an install on a '65 Falcon Ranchero. Used 24 lb/hr injectors, Trick Flow TB and Summit MAF, runs like a champ...

I also just dropped a 306 in my DD Mustang after the 347 wiped four cam lobes. Same specs as the X302 except for iron heads. Built it myself. Used same injectors with my old Accufab TB and a C&L 73mm MAF. Also runs perfect...

HTH...
