Will be using the T5 transmission. May be doing some mild auto-X. I think I may prefer a shifter in a slightly forward position only because that is what I am use to.
Suggestions? Pictures?

I switched to a Pro 5.0 shifter from a Hurst shifter that came on my donor car and like it a lot better. Shifts smoother from 2nd to 3rd. With the angled shifter handle it doesn't really feel like it is toward the rear of the console to me and you would get used to very easily. If you really want a mid shift there are options like switching the tailshaft for one from an S10. If you search for "mid shift conversion" I think you would find a lot of info on the subject.
I like the feel and sturdiness of the Steeda shifters. Switched from a PRO-5.0 to a Tri-ax in my Mustang. When I got my MK3, that was a very early change out also. The FFR had a B&M shifter. That shifter is now in the Steeda box the Tri-ax came in.
I'm sure this will be just one of many opinion.................Good luck on your choice.
Front shift on a T5 using an S10 tail shaft. I love it!
Alright, 1st I have heard about this. Tell me more. Is this a direct bolt up?

I changed mine from stock to Pro 5.0 and didn't feel any difference other than it now pops out of 5th.
Total wate of time and money

Here's mine, still under construction.
S10 midshift conversion with an MGW shifter. With the offset shifter arm, you can put it just about wherever you want. I think at about 45* (forward and to the drivers side) is preferred.

I did the S-10 swap with a Speedhut GPS speedo-Absolutely love it...
Only using the v.s.s. (along with a custom reluctor ring) for cruise control!
Ok Irandell, Tell me about this.
What is the speedhut GPS and v.s.s.?

Gauges, Custom Gauges, Tachometers, Speedometers, Shift Light, Pod
...like many here I ordered my cobra's gauges from them...quality stuff and you can customize them almost any way you want 'em. They also have a GPS option on their speedos that uses a small satellite-radio type of receiver that eliminates the need of hooking to your vehicle speed sensor (vss) for speed, mileage, etc. along with the ability to record top speed, 1/4 mile times, 0-60 et's.
They also eliminate the need to calibrate the speedo or even re-calibrate after tire size changes, axle ratio changes, etc.
The small magnetic receiver works great even through the fiberglass...mine is stuck to the brake booster and never misses a beat!

I'm a HUGE fan of this shifter and their other products. This company is run by some nice people with great products.
