Better looking upper intake manifold

Is this possible? My Mk3 has a stock 1990 302, I would like to retain the factory ECM and injectors, but replace the ugly upper intake and maybe the lower also. I really dont want to use an aftermarket EFI intake as they also have the same look. How about a lower intake that has injector bungs, but what about the factory throttle body and mass air flow sensor? I know there are standalone aftermarket EFI kits like Mass Flow. But what other options do I have? Could my idea work? I think I need sleep.

I have always loved the way the GT-40 Intake (tubular) looks. You'll need the upper and lower intake if your running a stock '90 setup. I believe the the lower is the same as a cobra lower intake.

There are other options that don't have the 'comb-over look'.

Here are two I've seen used.

Trick Flow box style - not sure on performance for this. I thought the box intakes were best for boosted applications...but I could be wrong.

BBK SSI intake - pretty cool modern look.
5001 Mustang BBK SSI Intake Manifold 5.0L 1986-1993 | CJ Pony Parts

I'm sure Fortes could get either of these at a competitive price..

But...the coolest looking setup (and a nice chunk of change) are the stacks. It's just money...right?

The box intakes are not so hot on a 302 (even boosted). They lose a lot of the low end torque that the long runners provide and ultimately don't add enough HP to be worth it. On a 347 it is a different story.

But vanity is sometimes a trade off.

I have one of these sitting in a box in the garage: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CCA-VH050/
PM me if you want it, I'll let it go cheap.

The BBK & Roush EFI intakes for 5.0's are interesting.

I used this intake on a mild 302. It works very well.

BBK SSI polished on my car. I like it. Not sure if it has any performance benefits, but I as well was tired of the stock manifold and did not really like other aftermarket ones.

We have the BBK SSI manifold on our car, plus a set of BBK logoed "beefy looking" aluminum valve covers giving more of a big block look.

Picked up the manifold on Craig's list and the valve covers on eBay and both were used
but they were priced right & cleaned up nicely.

Didn't notice any performance improvement but on the other hand our car still gets 22 mpg on the road.

Kind of cool and unique without the "comb over".

Better looking is perceptive - I agree about the comb over look, tho.

Leaning toward this:Edelbrock.com - Electronic Fuel Injection - Pro-Flo® XT - Ford with Ford EFI parts.

I have the Mass-Flo setup. The manifold is an Edelbrock Victor Jr. with injector bungs welded in. I have seen folks that have done their own version. You could get a 4 barrel throttle body from Edelbrock and should be able to use your stock sensors, injector and ECU. I think you can get an mass air meter that would fit under the air cleaner and it would look like a carb setup.

My two favorites are the previously mentioned Stacks from Wayne and if the car has a lot of motor check out the sheetmetal intakes from Wilson manifolds . Now from a driveability standpoint I absolutely love the GT40 on my 93 Lightning both with the stock engine and even better with z head 392.. Enjoy the confusion Bob

I left the original manifold and added a Cobra air filter on top with custom air tube to the mass air. It fits into the hood scoop area and gives the car some bling.
