Took my roadster out yesterday ... and rolled it over
To give it a bath and get it ready for undercoating ...

We used the Duplicolor BedArmor - and it was really easy to apply. And because it's water-based, there was virtually no odor, and clean up was a snap!
I had a couple of visiting "volunteers" (my son Jared and his girlfriend Jen) to do the actual painting, so I was able to stay clean ... It's good to be the Dad!
Because we had the time, we let it dry for about 6 hours between coats (2 coats plus extra in the wheel-wheels) and then overnight before it went back on the buck.
There were a couple of "blead-thru" places where we didn't get a good seal with the blue masking tape, which when still FRESH (but not sticky) was very easily removed with some sandpaper.
Came out really good - but in my haste, I didn't get any pictures of the finished job after the tape was removed.
Overall - we're really happy with the product and the end result.
YMMV
Lynn

Did you use the actual bed Armor product or the undercoating? Does the dupli color product have the little beads in it for traction? I have been planning on using their undercoat and sound eliminator product.

We used the actual Duplicolor Bedliner product. And it does have the little rubber-ish granules in it. Gotta stir it like a son of a gun before you pour into a tray and stat painting.... and then stiff frequently to keep the rubber bits in suspension.
Kit from Duplicolor (eBay for about $80 - "Google is your friend") included a gallon of the product (enough for two solid coats of the body underside and a 3rd coat in most the wheelwell/fender underside area), a brush, a roller that was so stiff as to be almost unuseable if there was any curve to the surface being painted, and a small paint tray.
It's also available in an aerosol - which I'll likely get when it's time to the elephant ears and other visible-from-the-underside-of-the-car panels.
And as has been mentioned elsewhere - there's a up to $30 rebate available from Duplicolor on the stuff - but the rebate expires shortly (the aforementioned "Google" is still your friend to find the rebate).
Would I select it again for a similar project? Absolutely!
I'm away from the house currently and on a "strange" computer or I'd dig out the links for you ...

Looks good! So now that its done, can you still read Jen's name on the bottom? I had an ex g/f do that when she was painting my room and i clould see it for years! LOL.
I am curious what you used for a cleaner on the underside too... Let us know.

Lynn,
What did you use to scrub it down first?
thanks
I had asked on an earlier thread about prepping the underside for this process and got a variety of responses ranging from powerwash, to sand (to give some "tooth" for the undercoating to "bite into"), rinse, de-grease and then paint, and so on.
I also talked with the guys at SKJ Customs here in St George who I know well .... they built the Summit car as well as another Mk4 and a GTM that were in the FFR booth at SEMA the last couple years ... and they suggested just washing it down good, and then apply the undercoating as needed.
So with due deference to the Forum expertise and responses, I pretty much followed the SKJ recommendation. A liquid car wash product (from Turtle Wax I think) with a good stiff scrub brush, rinsed well and let in dry in the warm (OK ... HOT!) southern Utah sun, and then moved it back into the shop, masked it off and painted.

(And BTW - Jen's name isn't visible thru the 2nd coat of undercoating .... so all's good in that area. But if it were, that'd be OK too ... 'cause she's a keeper! )
