Gentlemen,
Thank you for your kind words. My Dad, my brother Kevin, my cousin Kenny, several other people and I worked hard on building our FFR Mk4. So, we thank you very much for your kind words. With regards to the book, from the time I was a little kid I've dreamed of being a published author, and more specifically, the author of a book. That dream is now a reality. We did our absolute best on the car, as I did with the writing and photography. We're well satisfied with the end result. There are many people that helped make these dreams come true (the car and the book). They've all been acknowledged, which is another cool extra benefit of writing; one has the opportunity to thank the people who helped make it possible. In fact, the Acknowledgements page was supposed to be a half page. In my book, it was two pages. I cut another portion of the book short, so that I wouldn't leave anyone out. Thanks also to everyone who decides to purchase the book. I hope you enjoy the read and the journey of building and/or buying your dream Cobra replica. All the best, D. Brian Smith
Beautiful car and I will look for the book this weekend. One modification that you might consider is an angled exhaust wedge to bring the back of the side pipe closer to the car. Mine was angled out about the same as yours so I bought a couple of wedges from Mark at Breeze, I don't remember which wedges I bought but the pipes do align well with the body now.

Thanks for the tip and the kind words about the car. These babies are never quite done. Please let me know whether you're able to find the book, but don't do too much looking. I've been to Barnes & Noble in Oceanside, CA where I live three times. They don't have it yet, which is bogus, since it was supposed to be in stores by July 15. I'm about to blow a head gasket with the book's publisher. I hope to know more this coming Monday.
I just bought it on amazon. Now I just need an autograph Brian...
Henry
Hey Henry,
Thank you for making the purchase, even though you have already built so many roadsters, a gtm and a 33, that you don't really need to consult the book. You could have written one yourself. :-)
I'd be happy to autograph it. But what I'm doing with friends out here in LA LA land is writing a note on a carnut card that has my roadter pickup on the cover and signing that. I kind of don't want to sign the book, cuz it looks so nice. Isn't that goofy?
Best,
Brian
Mikey,
At the time of the photos, we just had a temporary operating permit. The car now has a CA SB100 smog exempt license. How cool is that? Best, Brian
I ordered the book from CarTech and just received it a couple of days ago. Great book, All color photos, clearly written. Step by step build with a lot of great info about planning and budgeting a build. I've been reading it for the last couple of days. I'm planning on ordering a kit next spring/summer so I'm doing all the research I can before I start and this book looks like it's going to be a big help.

I'm glad you're enjoying the book and you think it will help you build your car. Thanks for making the purchase. When you get your car, please remember that you've got lots of help available to you on this forum and the other forums.
Best of success with the build! You'll have a blast.
I ordered it on Amazon awhile back and they delayed shipping till August for some reason. Looking foward to reading it
Hello All Cobra Enthusiasts,
I just found out from my publisher, CarTech Books, how Amazon handles distribution of new books. Here's the response from one of CarTech's sales/marketing gurus:
"This is not unusual behavior for Amazon. They often use the first 4-6 weeks of a books shelf life to determine at what level they would like to inventory the product. Their early conservative order fill estimates are based on how long they anticipate it will take for them to order and receive the book from us or a distributor and fill the order themselves, or have a distributor drop ship for them. Quite often the book will arrive much sooner, depending how the order fills. I think they are so conservative to avoid customer service inquiries on ship dates.
Usually, after 4-6 weeks, they have a good idea how many they think will sell and enter values into their warehouse system for stocking. At that point you will see "In Stock" as the status."
So, with that information in hand, I hope everyone who has ordered from Amazon will be patient. Your book will probably arrive sooner than it was promised.
Thanks for purchasing my book. We hope it serves you well with your build and/or your purchase of a Cobra replica.
