Classic Chambered Exhaust ??

Anyone use these mufflers? They appear to be a great product. Looking into these and divided on Packed or no packing, if anyone has heard both and have a opinion. The owner says 6 decibel difference in the two but deeper sound in the un-packed. though most cobra owner get the packed mufflers.

I got mine with packing, and I installed them with the louvers forward. They sound absolutely great.

I used the 3" x 24" packed cobrapacks also. installed with the louvers forward for maximum sound reduction. The sound is great. yes it is still loud but noticeably more quiet at cruise and not as much “bite” when wound up. Also I ran the car on the dyno this spring and picked up around 10 ft.lbs of torque. Hp looks about the same. One of the nice things about welding up the pipes yourself is you can make them fit the car perfectly.

thanks for the input everyone. Defiantly going to be putting some on. Would like to know if anyone has not used packing or louvers facing rear, basically if it would be to loud with a 500ish HP 347. and I believe the longer body the more sound deadening. Thanks again!

Longer the body WITH packing = quieter.

Nobody has mentioned the size of the flowpath...2.5" or 3"? Thinking about these for my car too. Mike

To Dwight:

Would you by chance have pictures? Before and after of different length bodies.

Smile Classic Cobra pipes

mine is very similar to Bob's. I cut, I think an inch off the front tube and 2" or 2 1/2" off the back so the overall length would only add a couple of inches. I also turned the tip up 10 or 15 degrees. I think mine was aimed at the pavement and the sound bounced off the pavement into my ear. Can't prove this but everything worked out. More hp and less noise.

Dwight

if you email me I can email you pics. algunruner@aol.com

I just finished retrofitting mine with 28" mufflers. I haven't heard them run yet, though.

Before:

After:

I really like the turnout being at the very end of the rocker. I think it is a much more complete look.
