Here it is, the first video (I think) of an FFR lapping at Le Mans!!
This is the Classic Le Mans, which takes place every two years about two weeks after the other Le Mans race. This is the first time I have been and I booked two "parade laps" in advance.
I was expecting to parade, or at least see a Safety Car around somewhere, maybe a briefing, some rules or guidance? NO, nothing of the sort. 100 nutters let loose all at the same time, none of whom can possibly know their way around this 8 mile circuit. Huge speed differentials between some of the 1950s and 1960s sports cars, me and modern Ferraris at the other end of the scale.
A race driver told me that if I wasn't braking within 200yds of the first chicane on the Mulsanne straight, it would be too late!! I need 200 yards at 125 mph, let alone 140, so I chickened out and backed off. Every time I left some space between me and the car in front, some pr*tt filled it!
Very scary - here goes! 7 or so minutes of heaven!
How lucky were we with the weather, can't believe it stayed dry - did you see those clouds?
I really hope this is a first - I feel dead proud!
The car was magnificient - on the way down, round the track and all the way back - not a hitch!
Enjoy!
Regards
Ian

Looks like you mighta/coulda needed your rain tires ....
And thanks too for having the camera on the "right" .... err, "left" ... err, "correct" side (US drivers side) of the car. Helps with perspective for those of us on this side of the pond

Ian,
Looks like it was a lot of fun. Appeared to be a real cross-section of both talent and machines.
Thanks for sharing.

WAY TOO COOL. That is the Milestone of all Milestones…….. I love the revs when you slip it into high gear. You just know there are other drivers out there that hear that and think, hell, by the time he gets that gear taped out, he should be around 220……… something to make them think. I also like the right hand drive thing, or wrong hand, or …. Did I say that was way too cool?
Congrats on the drive. I’ve was there about a year ago, but I only got to watch. Hope to do the same as you someday. Great video by the way.
Wow! Great video thanks for sharing...Slower traffic even stay in the fast lane at LeMans... Liked the use of the turn signal by several when changing lanes...
Wow, that's bloody awesome Ian! You need to put a link to this video in your signature with a tag line like "LeMans Lap in my FFR."
I noticed that you have the infamous crack in the lower left hand corner of the windscreen. Bummer.

I’ve shown this to everyone I know that likes cars. Everyone agrees, probably one of the coolest things you can do with any car, let alone one of these. I guess NURBURGRiNG is next don’t you think? When you get that video, don’t forget to post it as well. If I’m looking at this right, is that a crack in the lower left corner of your wind shield? Who cares, having that le’ Mans decal on it I wouldn’t change it out, ever. My friend said with a decal like that, he would leave it in even if it was shattered…….
Once again, great video, and thanks for the post….. My wife is already asking how to get our car over there, and it’s not done yet.
Fantastic vid Ian. That looks scary as heck w/ the wide range of speeds. You got a little crazy there at 6:00 minutes going between two cars didn't you? A milestone for sure. Have you sent this video to Dave Smith?
