T5 and E Brake Chassis Mount - HELP

OK, so I normally would wait and sleep on something like this but I searched and searched and I couldn't find anything on this so I figured I must have done something wrong.

Here is the issue. The tranny (T5z) has a "bracket" that comes out the PS side and this bracket is resting on the emergency brake chassis mount. Here are a couple of pictures as I am wondering if I need to cut this "bracket" off the tranny as I don't think it is good for the tranny to be resting on this ebrake chassis mount.

Another closeup with different angle

I can't believe that I have screwed this up and didn't notice it until this point.

My setup.

302
QuickTime Bellhousing
T5z

Any help or insight will help me sleep tonight...

cut that tab off the tranny and get some rest.

A sawzall with a long metal blade will take it right off without removing the trans

Thanks, I was thinking this was the correct answer but just wanted to be sure.

Cheers, Bob

The correct answer is indeed to remove the tab. I was a bit worried myself about using a sawzall (in case it kicked back and gouged something else) so I just used a handheld hacksaw blade and went at it. It is soft aluminum and it didn't take me more than a few minutes sawing to get it off.

The manual instructs you to do exactly that!

Guilty as charged Jeff - I have to admit that I have fallen out of touch with the manual, although I did search through it and only found the portion about cutting out the tab on the TKO. Funny how I use to read that manual like the bible and now I only use it as an occasional reference...

Getting the sawzall out and cutting that bugger off in about an hour.

I was wondering if it was a mancard violation to admit being concerned about using a sawzall, but it is surely more of a mancard violation to admit reading the manual!!!

That is too FUNNY!!

I got the sawzall out and cut that bugger off - mancard violations and all, now I can get back to my punch list with hopes of a test body fitment in the near future...

Good Job!

Atta boy! Give me a sawzall or 4" grinder and I'll have fun all day. My first feeling of trepidation for cutting something on my Mark IV happened the first weekend of my build. I had to decide if I really wanted to do the Levy 5-Link mod as it required cutting the frame. After the first cut ........not so daunting after that.
