Thumbs up Old Ford Tri-Power

Hi Guys,
I picked up a few old engine blocks recently. I have a 1965 289 C5AE block and a 1966 390 "S" code C6AE complete engine. I will also have a complete Tri-Power available for the FE build.
So who needs a built old Ford engine? Here's a few of the engines Jesse has built and run on the dyno:

Hi,
For the more local customer I am considering a rental engine for inspection. This would have to go with an engine purchase to insure engine return from rental.

We dyno as well.......

Also unlike some of our competitors we build em "your way"! No order by # here! It makes it a little longer to get a quote done - but hey we are talking about a $$$$.$$ purchase! Personally I would have a problem with someone who just wanted my big ticket order with out going through line by line.

Mike,
I probably won't be ready until next year for a motor but have some questions? Is the 390 considered a SBF or BBF? My motor mounts were ordered for a small block. Also don't know anything about older Ford engines. What is the 390 average HP? Safe to build it to what kind of HP? What kind of modifications would it need to be reliable? Any trouble with getting performance parts? Limited transmission choices?

Thanks,
Tom

P.S. By the way, Thanks for the CNC Reservoirs! They arrived yesterday less tha n24 hrs after we talked...awesome!

A 390 is definately a BBF. Its from the same family (FE) that spawned the original 427, so if you want an original look, its the way to go. They can be made into monsters, and with a few oiling mods, they can be very reliable under heavy loads. Im a big FE fan in these cars... thats what FFR 5004 (mine) has, and it looks awesome under the hood.

Hi PJ,
Thanks for the support. We sure need the business still. Contrary to the government, small business is not doing fine.
I'm going to get a complete Ford Tri-Power for a FE big block. So the 390 I have could be assembled with this Tri-Power.

Hi Guys,
I just wanted to let everyone know about these old engines. The 289 & 302 early engines have a 2 piece rear main seal that leak. Jesse has been machining the block & rear cap to accept a 1 piece rear main seal like the newer 302's have. So that machining plus a stroker kit will get a very reliable old Ford.
Please note: We will only assemble with a roller camshaft to insure years of reliable use, just like the factory.
