Looking at buying this kit for drivers side and passenger. I have seen the couple threads about this product, but i would like anyone that has installed this to post pictures. Also would like to see a pic of someone sitting in the car with it mounted.
thanks!

I received my bar before my kit Im going tomorrow to get it welded. I to would like to see some pictures, all i have right now is a bare frame as i just removed the aluminium panels. Im thinking of buying another one and making it a full width bar that i can switch back and forth .
thanks krusty, anyone else out there with these? I just ordered both sides last night. So when i get them, i will put together a build thread on them.

QSL, I'm right behind you. I think I'm going to order mine tomorrow. I'm also very interested in any additional pics or comments.
I also wanted to ask, how hard are these to install with the body on, after you've had them welded up? (assuming you fitted them already before the body was installed) The FFR bars were enough of a challenge with a removeable third leg. Seems like the legs on these (once they are welded) would be wider than the holes in the body. (maybe I'm overthinking it)

I will admit that it was a challenge to install on a completed car. You need to really look at the components and think the project through before cutting anything. No instructions come with the kit and none are really needed. I bolted all the parts together with Grade 8 5/16 fine thread allen head fasteners. All parts are longer than they need to be and must be made to work together or you will never get it out of the car. If you are working on a car in progress with body off I would TIG the upright and hoop and mock it up and STOP until the body is fitted. You will need to shorten (cut) most of the components to install the bar after the body is mounted. It's not hard just a lot of trial and error. When it all works drill and tap. Perfection!
Sorry I didn't take pics of the process, but here is a pic of the rear down tube in the trunk.
Thanks for the tips. we are putting this on a MK4 that still has the body off, but we are taking it to paint in 1-1/2 weeks. So i am thinking this is the perfect time.
so to verify, you are saying its OK to weld the rear down tube now, just dont cut or bolt the extensions yet until the body is on?

Yes weld it up now. Look closely at the pic and you can see that the down tube does not enter the trunk area very far. The filler piece must slide down and up into the tube after the bar is installed. There is a fine line getting it to work smoothly and securely. The only tubes not shortened were the main hoop ends. Wasn't sure it would work at all then the light came on and it fell together. Very clever product. Each car will be a little different I imagine. That is why they didn't weld it up for you.
perfect, thanks for the clarification. It will help when i get it in front of me too!

Apparenly no one wants to post a pic with someone in the drivers seat...Here's one that is VERY close...
Although this is not technicaly a Breeze bar, it is lowered the same 2-1/2"(+/-), is 1-3/4" tube, just not layed back as the Breeze is.. There's more pics of the car here- FFR MkIII for sale pictures by convincor - Photobucket

thanks for the pic! I am thinking that many people are not posting because these are not easy to get. Apparently there is an issue with material on back order. It may be another month or more before i get mine...

Scott got some stainless drop shipped in from a different supplier and the finish supplied was a lower grade. It is being centerless ground now and he is picking it up from the grinder this afternoon. Stainless bars should be shipping next week.
No problem with the Carbon Steel supply.

Mark any thoughts on a full width bar? I have one of your stainless bars, but my plan was to make it removable so I can go back and forth from single to full width.
Make sure you note that is your intention so we can bend both legs at the same height. Scott is bending the inner leg a bit higher so the body holes don't need to be stretched.

Here is a shot of our recently completed White Roadster with the Extreme Fabrications 1-3/4" shortened and raked roll bar. Behind the Breeze Roadster is Craig Lindsay's Blue Mk 3 with standard FFR Chrome Roll bar (2" diameter), and behind that is Bob Boig's Mk2 wiht the Extreme Fab Roll bar with custom head rest.

Just another idea..
Some may want the look of the seamed/bolted bar.
I put this one together this morning.

krusty
Couple quick questions / recommendations please.
I have my body on now (un-painted) and installed the bars for mock-up. I currently have about 1/4"+ clearance around the bars in the body openings. I have temporary bolts in all 3 legs and the fit looks good. Took the car and bars to the Machine Shop yesterday to ask about welding them up. He said yes, about 1.5 hours of work, about $100.
1. Does that sound reasonable? (if not, what would you expect?)
2. Welder asked if the bars have any coating and what kind of Stainless Steel are they? (304???)
3. He suggested tacking them in-place, then removing them and finishing the welding. I agree, because welding the under-side with them mounted, may be a challenge.
4. I was concerned about the comment "You will need to shorten (cut) most of the components to install the bar after the body is mounted" I thought these are installable at the shipped lengths(?). what would need to be shortened?
Any other mounting tips?
Thanks! Looking forward to mounting these babies! I REALLY like them.
sorry, forgot to mention, these are going on a MK4, with the smaller mounting posts.

MPTech: I can't comment on the smaller MK4 install as mine is a MK3 but I found that each tube adapter had to be trimmed to a length that would allow the bar to lifted vertically to disengage then rotate slightly to allow the angled down tube to clear for removal. The angle tube was also cut just below the body to ease in this process. As I stated move slowly and think the removal process through. It works as stated in the end.
good luck: krusty
Basically the difference of the original bar's diameter plus so the 2 1/2" looks about right.
Original 2" bar ( I'm stretching a little )....
And the Breeze bar. Actually its the prototype of the Breeze bar that I got from Convincor, but its the same....
I look so enthused because I was having the riot act read by the safety police about spending money for stuff thats unsafe ( in her mind ). She took the pics to prove her point. One thing to note here is that these are obviously not the stock seats. They are Porsche 914 seats that I was trying out and, surprisingly, they set me up higher than the factory seats. Guess they don't give as much. Once they are powder coated, she'll never know the difference......For reference, I'm 5'10", but I've got short legs so this would probably be a good comparison for anyone up to 6' or so, again factory seats give at least another 1/2" or so of clearance compared to these. My Corbeaus set me down even further (practically on the floor), but I decided not to use them.
Being that mine were prototypes, they came welded and I have a little tweaking to do, but they were surprisingly close. I did have to open up the holes in the body to get them to go in, but I had my holes very tight around the old bars. I'm a little bummed about the new gap, but the bars just look so much better and I think they change the look of the car so much that I don't care. I am going to keep the old ones and make them interchangeable so I can throw them back in for a track day now and then.

I added the cross bar and it shows a little in this photo.
I've found it is a challenge to get a good photo of a white car. I took this photo at the Bass pro Shops cruise recently - mostly because I was amused that a guy got on the ground to take a picture of the bottom of the rear of the car. The evening was overcast and the picture came out better than expected. I think the contrast of the orange Lotus helps.
Also notice the red plastic "W30" radiator cowl, quick jack delete, MA registration, Mustang rear view mirrow with day/night capability, billet side view mirrors, loose scoop.....
