Title says it all. They are in back order everywhere... Discount Tire, Tirerack, and others.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

Good luck. I spent about half a day calling every tire vendor that Google knows to no avail. There just aren't any. I ended up going with Nitto NT05 tires.

Are the Nittos 335/35-17? I need this size but i don't want to pay $400-500 per tire...

I ordered mine a couple of months ago and had to wait a month to get mine. Just a waiting game. To be honest the track reviews on the kumhos are great but I could of gone with the nittos I think they look kind of cooler too.
I don't have my car on the ground yet but I'm sure I will be great-full I went with the forums advice.

I also wanted to get a set of Kuhmo's and was not able to find any availabkle.
I too ended up with the Nitto NT05 although not quite as wide as yours @ 275/40-17. Haven't got them on the car yet, so I can't say how well they perform.

Still in gel coat but legal 4/9/12, 3,700 miles and counting.......
that is what I have right now but there is a TON of space both ways with no sign of rubbing. I really want the 335's badly but not willing to pay $1000 bucks for 2 tires.

Kumho's are made in Japan. For obvious reasons, there are still some supply chain difficulties.
Toyo makes a good street tire. So does Nitto. Toyo owns Nitto, and I think the Nitto tires are made in the USA.
A couple season ago I tried a set of Toyo 888's for track use. It was a terrible tire - poor wear, greasy when hot, poor road feel. I'd never buy another set of those. I have heard - but cannot confirm - that the NT01 is the same compound as the 888.
I bought a pair of street NT555's for the rear, to replace the worn out BFG's. Seems to be a pretty good tire. Good traction and control. Quiet. After nearly 2 years the durometer reading is unchanged, and they seem to be wearing well. When the front wear out, I'll buy the same.

I can not help with locating them, but just thought I'd post since you may be considering other things...
I run 305 x 17 Kumho Ecsta XS on the rear of my MkII (PDW - IRS). I switched to this tire early last year from an old Yoko that was on the car when I bought it.
I LOVE this tire.... I am not on the track with them, but they have performed flawlessly on some pretty spirited mountain driving here in the hills of N. GA and I will absolutely buy another set when these are done. I running around 500HP range and these still bite great...

I have been under the impression most of the Kumho tire manufacturing takes place in Korea, China and Vietnam, so I'm not sure tidal wave / earthquake is to blame..

Thanks for the review... I really want a set of these tires but on 335's. the reason is because right now I have 315's and there is plenty of space for the extra meat. I have pin drive IRS and Michellins 315/35's. They are new because I'm still building the car. I just want this car to be done my way... I'm searching for that specific look on the entire build... you'll see what I mean when I can post my graduation thread.
Thanks again.

I do believe you are right. Made n Korea is what I've found. But I just can't find these tires. I even emailed Kumho but they have not answered yet.
I might have to bite the bullet and buy Michelins. Best price I've found is about $650 shipped. Uuuffffff!!!!! Too much money.

For those still interested in the 335/35-17 Ecsta XS - I got a very quick response to my email inquiry regarding this tire. All hope is not lost:
Hello Mr. Smith,
Thank you for your interest in Kumho Tires. In response to your question, The ECSTA XS 335/35R17 is presently on national backorder. We hope to see it arrive sometime within a 3-6 month timeframe.
We see this tire requested by individuals within high-end sports car clubs. If enough people were to and ask a large distributor such as Tire Rack or America’s Tires to order this size, it could potentially spur production.
I also talked to Mike Houston this Spring with a similar response. I explained to him that 335/35/17 are the factory size for the first generation Vipers, and Viper owners really don't have much options in that size. Hopefully that will encourage them to keep that size available. I plan on picking up a set as soon as they are available, even though I won't need them for another season or two. I ended up buying the 315/35/17 and expect them to last atleast 2 seasons. Glad to see others are going through the trouble of contacting Kumho.
