Well, it took 2 try's but as they say, "Second time is a charm" or something like that.
Here is the first try, as you can see it didn't start because I had the Powerjection yellow wire connected to the start pole on the ignition switch.
Then after everything was wired correctly and the fuel pump working, here is the actual first start video. Listen to 7469 ROAR!!!
Almost 11 months to the day for first start. What an awesome project this is. I love working with my son, family, & friends and all the troubleshooting and decision making that it takes along the way. Next milestone will be a go cart down my little avenue. :w00t:
Very cool... nothing like that feeling. I've had two first starts due to my cam gear getting ate up. It is just as scary/exciting the second time around too.
Congrats. Get it on the ground and shoot a gokart video already!
Thanks everyone and hopefully we will get it off the jack stands soon.
Funny thing is after we had the first start last night we started it again to run the tranny through the gears and we couldn't keep the engine running. It seems like the EFI is taking in to much fuel. I will look at it tonight to see what is going on...
Way to go!! Don't forget to keep an eye on the oil pressure, take the cardboard off the radiator, don't let your pants leg stay too long on the side pipe, look for leaks and the hardest thing of all, getting the smile off your face.

Follow up - Well guess what - I was OUT OF GAS! Not totally but enough that the fuel pump couldn't get a good flow of gas to the EFI. Funny thing was when this first happened the other night, my son said, "Hey Dad, could it be out of gas?" and I said, "no I don't think so I put almost 2 gallons in it for the first start". The moral here is that Jacob (my son) is better at this stuff then me.
I also was able to run through all the gears today and watch the tires move. I need to get this baby off the jack stands and on the road asap.
Thanks everyone for the great comments and feedback. This forum is awesome.
Good job!! X2 on the cardboad and see my reply above about rechecking all clamps related to coolant. Nice sound, thats why I've always liked a V8.
