Yo Mikey, the Kirkham pedal assembly will mount on top of the footbox (see above). The only thing that worries me is if Bruce will lose a couple spacers... LOL. If you compare pics of "original" CSX cars you'll see where the column pokes through the footbox. The deal with Bruce is just let him do his thing as he knows what's right more than you (or I) do...

PS: Trying to talk Pomroy into going to check out ALMS Winter Testing at Sebring in Feb since we aren't doing the 12 Hour this year. Cruise over if you can.

The goal for the trunk is to try and do something like this. Not sure how close we will be able to get. This is the trunk of a 289 Kirkham owned locally.

Cold, rain, snow, you better believe it, nastiest winter I can remember. Trunk tray is next on the list, and you'll even be able to put a spare tire in it . I'll have a complete step by step photo log of all the modifications to Jim's car once everything is polished and finished up.

FYI, that is not the final body. That's a test body being used to cut and measure and check fitment with all of the changes going on.

Jim, please keep posting, I love what you are doing and you are inspiring more people than you probably realize. Looking great!

I'm going to have to take a drive out there once my car gets here and your nasty weather goes away.

Guys:

This is getting out of hand... There just must be no end to Bruce's "bag-o-tricks".

Great to see the updates, Jim!

Bill / Mark / Allen / John... Suffice to say the project is taking a few unexpected twists and turns. It's been a fun ride so far!

Note all of the metal handiwork above to the front end then take a peek at this... Woah Daddy...

Bill - Bruce got the tank. I don't have the P/N but I will get it or he may chime in here with it.

One more important question: Where will the battery go? Behind the passenger on the floor like the originals?

battery mounts in front of passenger side footbox, as per originals. related story from LeMans years ago, cars in race were NOT allowed a "jump" start, Shelby crewman had battery hidden under raincoat, cables snaked down sleves, car into pits for gas/tyres/service, wouldn't start, crewman reaches under hood, "touches" battery, car fires rite up.

Thinking about doing the rear flares more like this. Smoother transition from fender to the flare. This is CSX2162.

Much nicer! I like those.

How difficult will it be for Bruce to make that change?

And what side louvers do you use?

Bill - I'm not sure about how that flare change is incorporated. I suspect it is not hard though. Whenever I talk to Bruce about something it never seems difficult for him to do it. He can work some fiberglass and has an eye for the way the lines should be so it looks "right".

I'm not sure what louvers came in the kit from FFR but if they are the same as what came with my mkII I'll be calling Finishline and end up paying too much for theirs. Bruce has the car and all kit parts in Pittsburgh.

I can't wait to see what the car looks like sitting in the driveway with a Lemans top and flip front. I seriously considered building a coupe someday, now I'll have both.

nuthing to the flairs, just have to settle on the tyre sizes and wheel backspace, this car is going to be over the top, like Jim says, best of both worlds, coupe with a flip front end, easy engine access, and removable hard top for the sun/ rain. or take the top off and have a period correct roadster with all the vintage stuff under the hood.
