trying to bleed out the air in the brake lines. The right-rear has a lot of bubbles in it. This is going to take awhile....

FFR said mine is supposed to be done this Saturday (3/19), asked Stewart for a bid to deliver, but haven't heard back from them yet. Getting anxious!

Meanwhile, it was a fun-filled Cobra weekend!
Saturday morning, rode with my buddy Rich GRSC over to (CMC) Competition Marine Center to pickup his Roadster (had it tuned). Man they do some cool work and their engines look really nice. I think I'm going to arrange for them to dyno & tune mine on the engine dyno before I drop it in. Then Rich let me hotrod his roadster on the back roads for a few miles. What a blast!

Then my other buddy, Steve, dropped off "Kate" for me to babysit for the week and take to the Club Dyno day for a run next week!!!

Meet Kate:

MAN! I'VE GOT GOOD FRIENDS!!!!

Bad News: can you believe it looks like this today! (but it's supposed to be 75* by Thursday!)

After about 2 gallons of DOT3/4 fluid on two master cylinders, I FINALLY got all the air out!
All of the air was trapped between the MC and the right-rear caliper. I sent a good 2-3 quarts down that side before I finally got pressure. The remaining 3 had little in the way of air.

I now go 1/2 way down and then bam! Hard. I can even put my left shoe behind the brake pedal - I have about 3" left of travel. D:

I have to really thank this forum as a whole. The general consensus seemed to be you just have to keep on working at it. Everyone that has had a problem, eventually worked out the trapped air one way or another. I spent the last 3 hours just today to ensure it got everything out. I took a few pics:

These bubble and many more tiny ones off to the right, were STILL showing up after 2 quarts had gone through. Started the 3rd quart at this point.

Yep, you are seeing a LOT of brake fluid. The jar on the right was the initial "old" fluid during the first MC bleeding. The canister next to it contains additional old fluid. The white Valvoline jars have all been purchase over the course of the last 4 weeks. The upright ones contain all "used" fluid; the ones laying down are just empty.

This was my setup to ensure all the air was going UP!

All I can say is thank god for Speed Bleeders!!! While having my friend over on Saturday was a great help, I can't always have him here on the weekdays so these types of bleeders have been a blessing.

almost complete

With help from Kouros, installed windshield, visors and wind wings. Riveted rear splash guards and coated with rubberized undercoat. Tomorrow off to DMV to get a 30 day temp registration for getting CHP, Smog and Brake and light done. I haven't been sleeping well knowing that I very soon will be driving the dream come true, my cobra!

Hood cowl

Opened the hood to see how much work it was going to be to install the radiator cowl cover that's been sitting on the self for a while. The instructions started off by saying "remove the hood".

I closed the hood and wiped off my hand prints and started working on catching up on my emails.

I decided to try my hand at making a cover for the license plate light access hole.
Chris at DWC should have NO WORRIES of me replacing his great piece as you can see.

It's not great but it does the job and you really don't see this thing 99% of the time, even if the trunk is open.

Added some padding and lights...

I had ordered the removable headrest cushions from CobraEarl a while back - not the prettiest but since they are easily removable you will never really see them in photos of the car parked or if I ever take it to a show. They also struck me as a place to install some LEDs to hopefully provide some additional brake light indication for that guy behind me in the lifted F350...

9 LEDs in the back of the headrest

They have a short cable with a small right angle plug that goes into a flush mounted jack just under the body lip of the cockpit rear and will virtually be hidden once carpet is installed.

close up of lights activated

view from the rear - car is still jacked up on left side so they don't appear to be the same brightness, I may need to fiddle a little with aiming of the bulbs but it looks pretty good.

The bodywork basically killed my shop vac. Had to pony up for a new filter and hose. Dumped at least two gallons of rage dust into the bag - made one hell of a mess. Cleaned it all up and it seems to work well again. Now if it would just warm up a little. 18 - 20 degrees this morning

Got a front end alignment. WOW what a difference. My manual one was pretty far off. Have the Castor at +3.5, Camber at -1.0 and toe at 1/16 in. Rear 5-link also aligned. This thing launches straight as an arrow now and handles amazing. Easy as pie to turn at low speed as well, 18:1 rack with Levy Comp Bumbsteer and SAI mod. Highly recommend Earl at Big Chief Tire in Jacksonville. Folks call him "Mr. Earl".

Finally got my clutch bolts so the clutch is now installed. Decided to remove the scatter shield from the tranny and bolt that to the engine so that's done (figured it was easier to torque 4 bolts under the car, than 10.) Bolted on the starter. I'm now ready to reinstall the motor this weekend.

After 11K miles, I finally decided to install the "Hangers" for the side pipes (the rubber pieces). I was using only the pivot point earlier but this caused stress cracks at the attachment points of the side-pipe so I'm having my buddy weld them up and sand-blast it afterwards so I can re-paint them.
