Outstanding! Looks and sounds great. Congrats,
FFR# 6530 non donor, IRS, small Block w/carb build. GraduationPOM3000 Mile Trip 3500 Mile Trip
Built to be driven. The mission statement for the build was - build a comfortable and fun long distance driving machine that is capable of spirited street driving and the occasional track outing.
Sounds great! Outstanding job! I am very interested in your build, as mine is going to be similar. How is your aluminum flywheel at takeoff? I am going to be running the Comp XE282HR cam in my 331, same cam that Howard(CobraDVM) is using in his new 408 stroker. Should be slightly more radical in a 331.
Also, did you see my post on your registration thread? I read through the bill, and I don't see where windshield wipers are a requirement, unless I missed it.
The Alum flywheel is just great. The engine revs quick and I did not even think about it when I go karted until afterward. These cars are so light that I guess it does not cause the issues you can see with heavier vehicles. Just be sure to buy quality.
The XE282HR is a big cam for a 331. Are you going injected or carb? Single or Dual plane intake? With a single plane, on a street 331, it will make good power but you may end up low speed drivability challenges. If you want an off the shelf cam, the XE27HR is fantastic for a 331 with AFR 185s, and will pull real hard to 6k. It's a tried and true 425hp combo. My cam is slightly hotter than the 274 but not as radical as the 282. I also have the LSA tighter at 110.
228/236 .544/.568 110LSA - I can PM you the source.
Saw the note on the reg thread. Wipers are not in that doc but are in the regular vehicle code.
Mk 3.1 - Kit Ordered 4/31/2009
Non Donor Build
Carbed 331 (430hp), T5z with .79 gear set, IRS w/3:55 gears, Power Cobra Brakes, Power Steering, SAI Mod, Heated Seats - Clean and Simple :)
I am going carbed, single plane intake, with Trickflow twisted wedge heads.
We will see how it works out. With my 3.73 gears, I think it will work well. It is just slightly more cam than you have there.
If you collect enough parts, you're bound to end up with a car, right?
