The starter button is made by Keep it Clean sku#130180 purchased from Summit Racing and comes with blue and green lenses as well and is lit up when the ignition is on or not if preferred. And thank you for your feedback. The finish is a black crinkle powder coat with removable sections.
I have always liked the look of an engine turned panel but not the price needed to purchase one. I found a vinyl product that is a thin layer of engine turned aluminum sandwiched between two layers of vinyl so you apply it like any vinyl sign material. Not too shabby.
Here is my new dash. The car is a Mark 2 that I purchased last August and I did a 3 month body off for extensive modifications with one item being a completely new dash layout and all new FFR electronic gauges. The dash is covered with black leather. I have Plastic-Tags labels on all my swtches. 2 weeks ago I had Bob Bondurant sign my glovebox door at our Club COCOA car show.
Pretty standard here. I will post a before and after, once I get it covered.
I am going to add an oil temp sending unit that will turn on an extra warning light if the oil temp gets above 275. Also I am using 65/66 mustang headlight and ignition switches. The toggles are for Driver and passenger fan, hi beams, L/R indicator, and hazards. The horn and heater controls will be hidden under the dash.
Hi all,
Awesome job by all. There sure is some wild imagination out there.
Mine isn't ready to show as yet but I was curious where do find the angled bezels I've seen here for the centre dash guages? Many thanx.
Regards,
Andy
I angled the three gauges that were furthest to the right using Autometer #3244 (2-5/8) Angle rings (comes in packs of 3) from Summit, Jegs, etc. But I wanted a more "permanent" look, so I used body filler to mold in the rings. One photo is of the early mounting prior to final finishing, and then the final product, painted with Alsa "Soft-touch" finish which is tough, but has a different texture.

There are a number of different places you can get them Andy. Most of the gauge manufacturers offer some type of angled mounting hardware.
I have some black metal ones I didn't use if you are interested (depending on your gauge size of course). I ordered them from an online source and discovered that the angled ring was just a bit to big for the (Autometer Ultra Lite) gauge bezel. It fit fine, just didn't look right to me. I opted for the plastic type that Autometer sells for the three smaller gauges and made one to match out of ABS pipe for my 3 3/8" speedometer as Autometer did not offer one in that size. They look like a matched set once they were all painted!
P.S. I would encourage anyone who has posted in this thread to ensure their pictures are still viewable. This thread may be old but was incredibly useful to me and others I'm sure. I still enjoy going through and seeing how others did it! No fun if all we see are red X's!

Great looking dash, love the color. I wonder if someone could detail how they installed the glove box door. Many of the pictures show a recessed door, some look overlayed. I'm interested in a recessed look with a push button to open and lock. I also have heat and want to see how deep I can get the glove box with the heat set up.
Thanks guys,
Dave

Dave, if you look here at Greg M's site, you can see how he did his door. His is custom, there are vendors that sell them though.

I did the shallow depth glovebox. I have Vintage Air A/C & heater. It give me the room for carring the tag/registration etc and that is all I am using it for. Really don't know if a deeper depth glovebox will work or not.

Jeff, I saw your threads, nice work. I was wondering if moving the heater forward caused any clearance problems with the motor or anything else, I have wipers also. I don't have a motor installed so I can't measure anything. I'll most likely steal some of your ideas, thanks for that.

Something a little different from the usual arrangements. I wanted something where I could see all the gauges without them being hidden under wheel spokes, and I wanted all the switches together.
Eddie, the horn is there, it is just peeking out from under the steering wheel on the LHS. But it is right under your fingertips when holding the wheel!

Dave
I made a bracket for the wiper motor that makes the installation more secure and spaces it out far enough to clear the heater box.

Greg, I've been wanting to tell you for a long time, your Roadster is one of the finest on this forum! But, what I really wanted to say today, is I've been a long time fan of TR6s. Was looking for one until I took the plunge on the FFR. Nice cars, Greg.
