Air Cleaner Recommendations

I've read a number of forum members say there not happy with the Cobra Oval air cleaner and it's to restrictive. I'm running a 351 and the top of the air cleaner is extremely close to the body. Any recommendations out there. Pics if you've got them. Thx

Mark

Try a dropped base air cleaner so you can go to a bigger element and not have clearance problems.

I got mine from BG. It is dropped by about an inch and a half and allows me to run a 14 inch x 3 inch round air filter with no clearance problems whatsoever.

Watch for distributor air cleaner clearance in the case of a dropped base unit. Some of the oval ones will hit the top of your distributor. You might have to go to a shorter and taller air cleaner. Check out Summit for lots of options.

I got my dropped base unit from Max at Five-Star. Fits my 302 with a large HEI distributor and a K&N air filter.

K&N makes a direct replacement air filter for the oval "Cobra" air cleaners, stock height but flows way more air than paper. Part #E-1960

Thumbs up Lower profile filter asm

Hi,
I have a real nice 14 inch low profile filter assembly. It comes with a 3" element but I sell 4", 5" & 6" tall elements if wanted.
