2-1/2 years in the making; 5369 (MkIII) roared to life yesterday! We were working gremlins all day but in the afternoon, after switching 2 starter wires we had success!:
I was kneeling in the cockpit (that's why I look so tall) and didn't even put my foot on the gas! Rich (RichCam) sent me a video of the actual blessed event but it's 100meg! I'm going to try to reduce it before posting.
Meanwhile, Marshall (ConMech) sent me some cellphone video so here is the 2nd start. :
Major faux pau after the start!! We didn't break out the champagne and most folks left before we went to In-n-Out!! IOU Guys some good grub to make up for it! Darren and Paul gave my daughters a ride to INO in their Cobras and the girls were all smiles!!
Thanks again!!
EDIT: Here's the --> FIRST START<-- (25 meg quiktime movie)
Geez - If I'd known you were going to In-N-Out, I would have cancelled my plans!
Congratulations. I'm just days away for joining you past this milestone.

"WE" is the word!!
I wonder how long I would have had to work to fix that issue alone by myself?
This is a shout out to all the lurkers and dreamers out there. I honestly can't tell you all how happy I am to be a member here. It is though this site that I became friends with everyone in the picture, the guy (Darren) filming, and even the guy (Rich) who supplied the camera! It was truly an awesome event and I KNOW it wouldn't have happened without you guys.
Man, I'm on a roll now! Got the last hardline for the clutch bent and I'll install that tonight. I called Summit and a replacement battery and new horn are on their way.
1st go cart by this weekend is definitely a possibility!!
Congratulations from the High Desert!! Wish I could have been there. Actually, Dave, YOU have been MY inspiration. Having seen your semi-go-cart at Huntington Beach this year caused me to set a goal that I would have MY go-cart there in 2009 in some form.
Suffered a setback today however. In the process of attempting to install my rear calipers, I discovered that I installed my knuckles reversed. That is, left on the rightside, right on the leftside. Dang!!! That's a setback.

Nah... That's just experience!
I got a ton-o-dat now! I can't tell you how many times I re-flared lines, changed the brakes, calipers, etc etc etc!
Thanks for the compliment. Hopefully I won't be going for the "in-process" award again! So it all yours! Hope to see you @ HB this year WITH your build!
