Post a pic so we can see the extent of the damage.
Try this forum. It's chock full of expert woodworkers that work the kind of miracles with wood that folks here work with cars. You'll have to register to post, but it might be worth it. It's a good resource and I've had no problems (e.g. spam) from being registered there.
