Damplifier Pro Questions

To whomever has gone this route;

I would like to get the cockpit covered including all panels, footboxes, floors, doors, rear cockpit wall, trans tunnel, etc. I don't need the trunk done yet.

I would like to go with the Damplifier Pro shop pac with 80 sq. ft. I believe this will be enough for at lease one layer, hopefully more in certain areas.

My questions are;

1. Do I need to get the foil insullation tape to go over the seams or should I just overlap?

2. I want this mostly for heat barrier, but I do have been looking at the strictly heat barriers and I would feel more comfortable using this product and then adding more heat barrier later if needed, hopefully not. Is this the product that I want? I only want to put down one product and then the carpet and I like the idea that this product has an adhesive back.

3. Are there any special tools required to apply this product?

If you have any tips or trick I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance for any and all opinions.

John

I believe I used 75 sq ft and did cockpit and trunk but I wasted very little. I used regular foil tape you can buy at the hardware store. It don't have to be pretty as it is just going to get covered up!

John.... here's my experiences....I think I was one of the first to use this product - as I recall, the "as received" material sizes (Length & Width) have changed since I installed mine.

John,
I am just getting started on this stuff so I am far from an expert, however one tip -
This stuff is very very sticky. Once you put it down, it isn't going anywhere. So, in the more complex or hard to reach areas (footbox, etc.) cut the pieces small enough to place without having to slide them in. I have started pealing just about an inch of the paoer backing and placing the edge where I want it. Then I peal the paper out from under and press the damplifier pro into place as I go.

I like that it comes in flat sheets. It is smooth, not wrinkled like the type that comes in a roll.
Good luck,
Arch

Built to be driven. The mission statement for the build was - build a comfortable and fun long distance driving machine that is capable of spirited street driving and the occasional track outing.

Good point Arch-
I forgot about that. I tried to use as many full sheets as possible but in the tight spots it just turned into a mess. Patchwork pieces in those spots!

I received a small starter pack last fall as part of Ant's product introduction to this forum, and you can review My Write-up Here

Be prepared for lots of little slices on your hands, fingers, and forearms. Ouch! Mine is still exposed and has not moved around.

Guys

Thanks for all your input. I am going to put the order in today. What type gloves do you recomend? Mechanics gloves ok as I already have more blood into this car than oil.

Thanks for your input

John,
I have some soft leather gardening gloves that seem to work so far. My mechanics gloves have too many thin cloth areas for me to trust them.

Glad to see some of the members here stepping up and answering your questions. I am sorry I was not available for the last couple of days.

Many of our customer use the foil insulation tape on the Damplifier Pro but it is not necessary. The tape ahs a very high heat rating and is mostly used to seal the edges of Luxury Liner Pro and heat Wave Pro. IT will work on the Damplifier Pro but is a bit of overkill.

Damplifier Pro has a very thick foil so it will provide heat insulation for sure.
Your best bet to specifically taget heat it to apply a layer of Luxury Liner Pro or Heat Wave Pro on top of the Damplifier Pro. Then use the foil tape to seal the edges and seams.

A razor blade is great!
The wooden hand roller we offer on our site is very helpful too!
Not much more than that for Damplifier Pro.

Hope that helps!
