Headlight Mounting

Is this correct? I could not figure which of the two holes to use. There is no picture in the manual. Looks funky sticking out like that. I am not going to run the hood sides. It will not fit without the spacer. The washers rest on the grill.

I tossed out those bell shaped washers.

I was told by F5 that the upper hole is used when running full fenders.

Mounting

Erik:
I like you look much better. Did you have to shorten the headlight mounting stud when you removed the washers? Looks like you cut off the upper hole since you are never going to run fenders. Correct?

Jim:
I got the same answer when I called FF5.

I won't speak for Erik, but the earlier cars didn't have the second hole that was up higher and people with full fenders had issues mounting thier lights. Just evidence of FFR's constant improvement of thier product!

Correctamundo...

I did not cut the bolts although you may have to. Definitely test fit and trim before running the wires through them.

I also put the spacer on the belt sander to get the right bevel/angle for mounting. Then I painted black to match.

I never have liked how I mounted the headlights. A friend (motorcycle guy) has some lights I might use instead of the provided units. They're slightly bigger than the lights on the RideTech HR. After looking at a bunch of pictures I think smaller looks better on fenderless cars. I had two sets of brackets and both were without the extended mounting hole.

I added a 2" dia x 1" long aluminum spacer and mounted them in the upper holes.

My solution to the headlight mounting question.

After searching for spaces that would let the headlight rotate fully I came up with using 1" square tubing.
I used a half round file to make the curves in one end so the lamp could rotate fully.

It will be powder coated the same color as the grill bracket.
