Brake Line Installation

Any tips/tricks/suggestions/lessons learned on installation of the two 60 inch lines from the pedal box? Working at mocking up the line(s) first but the tight routing, especially for the front line, is proving to be challenging. Must be making it too difficult as I don't see much posted on this topic. Thanks guys.

Use a 1-1/4" socket and bend the brake lines around it by hand. Larger bends can be done by hand. It is pretty easy. Just go slow, don't kink or flatten the lines.

I used coat hanger wire to make a pattern to get the general shape and bends. Then I bent the tubing to match. The tubing does bend easily by hand. I had the benefit of an inexpensive tubing bender for the tight bends. Lots of minor adjusting after the larger sections are in place.

Master cylinder lines done today.

I just did my main 60" lines today and had a couple of lessons leaned.

- As mentioned earlier mocking with coat hanger was helpful. But wasn't a silver bullet.
- I recommend taping the screws to the end. If you mistakenly start to bend with one slid up the pipe it is a pain to get them back down to the end. Actually the one I did this on (I'm an idiot) I still havnt been able to slide down.
- the screws are different sizes on each end. I THINK (looking at the pictures) that the shorter ones go into the MC.

Good luck

I posted this way back in the tips and tricks section. I tried the search to find it just to see if you missed it but it didn't come up! Sorry about that. The search tool is not perfect.

2. Brake Lines
When using the supplied, pre-assembled lines from FFR, make sure to tape the fittings to the end of the lines before you do anything. You don't want to get your lines bent only to find the fitting somewhere in between two complex bends...trust me! I learned the hard way on this.

Happened twice this weekend. Was able to fix one and had to trash one

Thanks guys. I do recall the tip on taping the fittings. Wise counsel. My real question is on routing. Did you route the front line from the pedal box on the inside of the frame as shown in the manual? While inside is hidden from view, outside of the frame looks like an option unless it would interfere with body side panels.

Line Routing

Attached are a few photo's of the routing I used, I didn't have any issues with installing the body as it related to the brake lines. Hope this helps,

Very helpful. Thank you for the reply and the photos. Confirms the routing option I was looking for.
