Radiator/Fan Shroud Interference

At the build school it was recommended that we use a fan shroud to help cool the car. I bought one from Breeze that fits great but now that I am trying to fit the hood, side panels and the nose cone, I find that the radiator can't be tilted properly to more closely fit all of the front panels. I think Brett mentioned he was having a similar problem before he was transferred to Norway.

Has anyone else dealt with this problem and what did you finally do to make the front hood and panels fit?

As always, thanks for any comments.

We cut 2 holes in mine with a hole saw to get the bottom of the grille assembly closer to the chassis.

Put the fan on the inside of the shroud.

Hi Jim. Still reading now and then from Norway. I didnt like the idea of putting the fan inside the shroud because it is then right against the radiator and in that case not sucking air across the whole radiator surface (still better than no shroud but not as effient as maounting the fan outside the shroud). I cut approx 1/4" off the shroud around the whole thing which effectively gained 1/4 more space to deal with. I moved the radiator overflow to the firewall. Then with the radiator assembly tilted as much as possible (without touching the chassis). I was able to make the body parts fit. The engine side panel on the passenter side was too short where it meets the grill on the top (if i remember right - could have been the bottom). I intended to fix this when prepping for paint but never got that far.

Thanks, everyone.

After reading what others have done, I decided to cut out the bottom of the shroud which then allowed me to tilt the radiator back toward the chasis enough to allow the body parts to fit much better. I have the same problem that Brett mentions: the side panel on the passenger side is a tad too short (1/4") on the bottom. I will get that fixed when I get ready for paint. I am just getting to the hood but it appears that it will fit much nicer now that I have modified the shroud.

Thanks again for the helpful tips.
