Different brake bleeding proceedure - Sucess!!!!

I finally got my hot rod back in the garage, so I was able to rebleed my brakes per the proceedure posted by Rumbles. Well there's a signifigant improvement!!!!!!

All I did was bleed the right front and right rear at the same time and then did the left front and rear at the same time. I was able to get a full pedal stroke that way on both cylinders at the same time. Doing one wheel at a time, you can't get a full pedal stroke because the pedal firms up on the axle that is not being bled.

I did a test drive and could lock up the front at will - MAJOR IMPROVEMENT!!! Since the front is so strong now, I think I have to rebalance so I get more rear brake.

I think if your not happy w/ your brakes it's worth a try - no matter how many times you have already bled them.

I'm going to try this. Although I used an air bleeder which should suck all the air out of the lines without having to pump the pedal, my brakes have no bite after the first drive around the block. Wish me luck. How did you do both the front and rear at the same time? Did someone help you?

I did it old school, put some rubber hose on the bleeder and drop it into a small coffee can and put a little fluid in the bottom to cover the hose. Do that on both wheels and crack both bleeders and pump away. Just make sure you keep the resivoirs full. Having the hose in the can keeps any air from backing up in the caliper and you don't need any help.

I'm so glad The Willwood Tips worked for you!

I should have my car back from paint in the next week or so. I can't wait to try it myself.

I'd feel much more comfortable, if I could get my brakes to lockup

P.S. I tried a suction pump to bleed the brakes, but the brakes remained weak.

Nice to hear, I've bleed my brakes but it's hard to test them in the garage.

They will hold my car on the driveway and that's no small thing.

Did anyone try these special bleed screws from SpeedBleeder ?

Speed Bleeder Bleeding Brakes Bleeding Motorcycle Brakes Automotive Bleeder Screw Brake Bleeder

Second question. I recall someone has suggested a bleeding tool (other than the cheap vacuum bleeders). Was it one of the tools that Phoenix Systems offers ? The MaxPro seems expensive, but if it is the perfect tool, then I would buy it. I love tools and have lots of pro tools that may not make sense for the little I do.

Phoenix Systems - Brake Bleeder

I use the Russell Speed Bleeders. With Wilwoods, I have 8 of them.

I do front and rear at the same time. Connect the bleeded to an empty bottle of anything, use a clear plastic hose I bought at Ace Hardware. Gently pump the brakes 10 times, and done. Move on to the next bleeder. Doesn't take any time at all to bleed the system.

I'v tried the vacuum pumps to pull the fluid out, but pumping works a lot better.

I use and added the tip about the Phoenix Systems tools. They have some economy models too. The one I have is a mid-range unit. They also make one meant for bench bleeding only. The speedbleeder works in the opposite direction of the Phoenix tools so I don't use them. I have used them in the past with success.

Which part number?

Does anyone know what SpeedBleeder part number to use with the Wilwood brakes? I don't see it listed on their website.

I used a Phoenix bleeder but used it in a pressure manner. I inserted the tool into the m/c reservoir and forced the fluid through the lines. Worked like a champ. The pedal is rock hard.

My Wilwoods have a 1/4 x 28 thread which uses the Russell 639540 speed bleeder.
