Bret and Greg traveled to Elkhart Lake, WI for the next leg of the Optima Street Car Challenge.
Thank you Bret and Greg for taking the time to talk about things Factory Five. Your car is the sweetest thing I've seen yet. Interior and exterior, suspension, brakes, steering are all top notch.
Best regards,

Back to the 50's? You mean back to the FUTURE! Nav screen, Coyote, forged wheels, AC, power windows, damn!! Sweet! That is everything in one car. What a great job. Don't want to know the tally on that baby that's for sure. Must have cost some serious cheddar.
the blue and silver car I just painted mine the same scheme but burnt orange and silver, lol never seen one like that thought i would have been the first... I posted a few months ago my idea for paint,,,

If an idea gets posted here, somebody will act on it soon enough. I've seen several suggestions of mine done by others. It's neat to see but if you want to be the first at something, you might want to keep it secret.
I have a couple of "first time" things on my car but I'm moving so slow they might be old news when I'm done. There might be a Mk2, 3, or 4 of the 33 by then.
Arrowhead posted one with the same paint lines back in Jan 11. Every time I think I've come up with something original for a paint scheme, I normally find one soon after from back in the day.
within the next 2 -3 weeks i should be able to post my finished car... I dont know if i am happy or if I am depressed... I go in the garage and look for things to do.

I'm sure it will be a happy day when you can call it done. I'm looking forward to seeing it.
Check out Merle Eschman's HR from Butler, PA. He won a builders choice award at the Good guys Nationals in Columbus. It's got a 415HP 302 with Webers and Forgeline Wheels. I would love to see some better pics.
If all you do is buy the kit and have 100% of the work done by others, I can believe that figure. Many have close to $50k in theirs and did a lot of the work themselves.

I keep exact records and I'm at $36K. I still have body and paint to pay for but most everything else is in my garage or in storage. $80K for what I see seems high. He might have the hardtop and soft top done as well. The paint looks nice but I can't justify that kind of money for a "driver". I keep close tabs on hours worked too, I'm only at 220.
My time has not been under my control since I started helping out with Scouts. There are rewards for that investment of time too.
Love the wheels & the rake on that one!
More info on the wheels & tire selection please
