Quicksilver at Empire Lake in Coos Bay, Oregon. Last good day to drive. Squeezed in 4 more hours of cruising. I've got some additional items to fab as extras for the car, milled alumimum door sill thresholds, Quicksilver logo horn button, milled billet defrost grilles, and maybe new engine sidecovers from alumimum with louvers to help with cooling.

I stumbled upon some GTM photos on the web and I noticed a FFR '33 in the background. I did a little digging and found Nathan (spytech) over on the GTM board.
"can't say I know too much about it. It was originally built by a guy in Chicago. He then sold it to my friend's father in law. My friend happens to run a body shop, so he did the final body fitment, paint, interior work on the 33, then shipped it off to his father in law. The day before he shipped it out I pulled in with the GTM and got some pics with it."

Did you notice that this car is for sale on eBay? Or at least it looks like the same car.
Beautiful cars! Not many with the full fender kits though...any particular reason?
Yes, I can only speak for myself but hot rods don't have fenders. The whole idea behind a hot rod is to comply with the definition.
hot rod also hot-rod ( ) n. Slang An automobile that has been rebuilt or modified to increase its speed and acceleration
If I wanted a "street rod" that would be a different matter.
street rod
–noun
an old automobile that has been well maintained and typically has been provided with a powerful, modern engine and modern interior fittings.
I like them both but clearly some of us took the Hot Rod fork in the road while others followed the Street Rod path. The FF 33 seems to be flexible enough to pull it off whichever way you turned.
My preference for fenderless cars won't stop me from admiring the fendered works of others.

Fair enough!
I just didn't know if there was an issue with the full fender kits so that people weren't using them much.

I don't think there are issues. It would be more work to fit them and paint but that's obvious. The bike fenders have been used also. They are more to my liking and Lang was making some that were awesome.
The other issue is some builders will have to use fenders to legally get the car on the road. Some have installed them temporarily to jump through the DMV hoops.
I like both Hot Rods with fenders and Hot Rods without fenders. I don't see the word or concept fender in either definition and the FFR is obviously not an old car that has been well maintained. I am just not into all the rocks that the front wheels throw up peppering the side of the car. Just my $ .02. Mine has the FFR bike fenders with the fronts mounted as far to the rear as possible.

The HR vs SR comparison was a bit tongue in cheek. The point was the FF 33 is very versatile and can accommodate a wide range of styling. I'm finally at the point with my car where decisions have to be made on what look we execute. It's tough because if part of the plan won't work there's no turning back with some of the mods. I need to find an artist to put me on the right track.
Back to the pictures, I have a couple of a almost finished car that I'm waiting for permission to post. The car has been under wraps for over a year.
Wow some of these cars are spectacular! I find myself looking at the pics and thinking of some of the things I would do. Almost makes me want to build a 33 instead of a roadster, but 12 years of dreaming and life getting in the way about 74 million times, and now I have the cash no garage!! My graduation thread will have a roadster in it, maybe grad thread #2 will see a '33 hot rod!

Posted by 4Cam33. Didn't find any posts by him though, just the pictures. Profile says it's car #56, 4.6 supercharged SVT, 6 speed w/ Foose wheels and he's in Alabama.
I'm at the NSRA Western State Nationals in Bakersfield and came across this car. Hopefully I'll be able to find it tomorrow and get some close-up pictures.
I didn't have my camera out at the time and my wife was actually playing with her phone when she took the picture.
Note the engine turned metal dash, the polished aluminum sill plates and bullet pod that houses the radio controls. The transmission tunnel and kick panels upholstered There are matching under-dash upholstered panels that hide the unsightly wiring, the radio head unit and the speakers for a very clean look. The ignition switch and power window switches are hidden too…Shhh
In the back, the waterfall panel has matching stitched upholstery as well. I covered the hard top headliner and mounting holes with an uphostered panels and
worked in a dome lite as well.
There’s enough polished aluminum in the engine bay to blind you on a sunny day! The bling includes panels laminated onto the side covers, brake reservoirs, radiator and the firewall. I fashioned the custom brushed aluminum COP valve covers for the 32 valve motor.
The under carriage is all polished aluminum and is punctuated by a gun metal gray powder coated frame. When you look up, it looks back at you. The finishing touch is a “Rumbles” plate!
Thanks for posting the very nice photos. Not only is the car beautiful, but the background scenery is great, too. I drove mine today and also gave it a much needed bath. Now at 4150 miles and counting.
(2010 September Vintage Fall Festival, Road America, Elkhart Lake, WI)
Best regards, Tom
