June Photo Of The Month

"This is our 7th build. Our 4th kit from FFR. 3 Roadsters and a Hot Rod. We love building these cars. We have also restored several cars including a '67 Camaro RS, '55 Chevy BelAir, '66 GTO, '74 Beetle. I like building the FFR cars the best. Great people to work with, cool cars too.

Each year students build and raffle a car. The proceeds benefit the Automotive Program 100%. The raffle enables us to play(learn) the following year. Students, parents and our community loves to see what we are doing each year. We are a Comprehensive High School. Meaning we offer programs like this and others including Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Carpentry etc. very unique school setting. One of 11 in NY.

I am very proud of what my students accomplish each year. And without the support of our business community, we would not be able to build our cars each year. East Syracuse Chevrolet did the bodywork and paint(supplies donated by SAVES Auto Body, PPG). Also FFR always provides support and is wonderful to work with."

If you are interested in a chance to win this great car I am told tickets are $10 each, 3 for $25 or 15 for $100.

To Order Raffle Tickets Click HERE!

Drawing is Sunday July 22 @ 8pm. The winner will be notified that night just a few minutes past 8pm EST.

This is great for the students. I wish I knew how to inspire schools to have the students get involved.... This will live them forever!!!

Talking What a great POM!

Friday, June 1st--Congratulations to the Automotive Technology Class of East Syracuse Minoa High School. This is truly something these students will take through life with them. And it is nice to see a young lady in the class as well. Good for them, and to the Instructor Mr. Ryan J. Beckley, a really big hurrah. I sure wish they had something like that when I was in high school about a hundred years ago. I'm buying three tickets.

In the age of budget cuts and high school auto shop classes being canned, this is really great to see. I also like the decision to let "others" do the body work in order fetch the best price to allow for future builds.

Very nice to see.

Nice car, nice for students to be able to participate and work on a project like this.

But, I thought people were not allowed in POM pictures....

The auto tech program when I was in high school was certainly not anywhere near as cool as this. It looks like a great way to raise the money to keep programs like this alive not to mention the awareness that programs like this need to continue to be funded.

Thumbs up Great Job!

I was really psyched to see this. We didn't do anything like this in 1977. That's when I graduated from ESM! Go Spartans!

What a great thing the school, FFR and the supporting businesses are doing for these kids. This is certainly going to be a class they will always remember. What a great way to keep the young minds engaged. I’m clicking the link for a few tickets.

my high school auto shop teacher was Mr. Schwartz, a really old, boring, Willy-Lump-Lump

all we had was a green '72 Nova which must have had the brakes changed 500 times each.

and there were NO cute girls like in the picture!

i bet the boys are lining up to take this class!

Thanks guys for the kind words. This is my 12th year teaching here at ESM. I cant believe they pay me to do what I do. I love what I am doing with these kids.

I can't say that it doesn't have its challenges, but they are out-weighed by the excitement from the students.

I appreciate those of you that buy tickets to help support our program. 100% of the funds are used to purchase the next vehicle. Without the support, this would not be possible.

Our school district is very supportive of this style of education. Something I think a lot of districts are missing the boat on. I like to think that we are so far behind other schools, we are in the lead.

Thanks again, and we look forward to building another FFR next year. Hopefully . . .

Take care, and stay tuned. . . winner announced July 22 @ 8pm EST. Winner notified minutes after 8pm.

The body color Greystone Metallic(2008 Silverado). The stripes I just chose out of a book. I think it may have been on a Deawoo.

The stripes were not much of a contrast with the body color. But I kind of like it. Most people that see the car think the color combination is pretty cool.

Just one week away, buy your tickets today.

And the winner is . . .

Many thanks to those of you who supported our MK IV this year. A great experience for my students and I.

We pulled the winning ticket last Sunday at 8pm. Ticket #4879, to a Michelle Robinette, of Geneva, NY.

She is extremely excited to take ownership of her new toy and plans to bring it to as many shows as possible. And take her husband and 4 children for rides.

Stay tuned for our next build. . . .

Take care, and thank you again. I appreciate the support.
